I’ll tell you what, I’d be pretty pissed off if that was the only World Cup game I ever went to see.
yeah he is, he’s just sufficently embarrased about it to tell people he’s from Rhodesia, he really is that desperate to get away from the Aussie heritage.
was it on the XDC server? if so the rules are quite clear, no one has priority over vehicles, it’s first come first servee. Although I do frown upon the people who jump into tanks whn you’ve got out to repair it.
Wolf, can’t say I agree with your last statement. If England had conceded a goal then I doubt they would’ve come back. There’s a difference between a team playing concededly and within themself, and a team struggling. England were struggling.
will tahts irrelevant because they didn’t concede a goal and you have to remember there are players in that team that have the character to pull a game back from defeat to victory, namely Gerrard. He has the character and leadership skills of a world class captain, and my God he has been in teams written off in the past (Champs League final anyone).

I am sick of the excuses England always seems to come out with, first it was the fitness, now the heat, come on guys! Lampard and Gerrard cannot play together, Owen is slow and way off what he used to play like, Crouch – well need I say it! (Hyped) And yes, a win is a win, but we won by a lucky own goal and if we played a team of better quality and skill, then the outcome, I think, would have been different! Answer is – Rooney makes England tick, without him we dont!
What do you want? England to play top class football every match? it’s the group stages of the competition, we lead the group and another win will almost garuntee us qualification. Fact is we won, not convincingly, but we were solid at the back, and we can score goals up front, we just din’t click, and I think that’s just through not playing enough games together in the curent format.
Rooney is excellent, there is no doubting that, but we NEED him to win? we didn’t have him on Saturday and we won, or the week before against Jamaica when we thrahsed them 6-0. It sickens me that a win is criticised because it doesn’t meet your entertainment levels. Remeber that there is no bigger threat than the underdogs ina ny sport, Paraguay played their best game of football in recent times against us, they raised their game, as we will raise our game against Brazil, and if they don’t then they have learnt nothing from the Rugby winners or the Ashes team, you eed more than a great team to win major tournaments, you need a great team with great team spirit and the knowledge of when you need to play yourself to death and when you don’t need to.
On the plus side though, Argentina v Ivory Coast was a good game later on. In fact, other than the 2 games in Englands Group it’s not been a bad World Cup so far.
did you watch theTrinidad and Tobago v weden match, awesome game, sweden failing to get a win against ten men of T&T, in fact T&T only neeeded one man, shakur “god” Hislop, he was awesome. The match was one of the best of the tournametn.
england din’t win in style, so what, they won, remember it quantity not quality in football, a win is a win is a win is a win.
TBH I’d rather they scare themeselves in the opening stages than breeze past the opposition, it gives the youngstrers a chance to experience pressure and our defence was unbreached all match and that is a positive (look at Germany winning, but letting in two goals, I would be more worried if that was the case with England). The point about the goal was that England with Crouch and owen and Ferdinand in the box, and with Beckham crossing from the free kick, forced the mistake from the Paragyuan captain, good job done.
And if one wishes to look at other recent sporting events/competitions that England have come out winners, look no further thann the 2003 World Cup winning England side from the rugby, started off in pretty bad shape in the group stages, but played their best when necessary, including in the Final, or look at the Ashes, LOST the first test against Australia, then went on to win the series.
The constant stream of criticism is beyond me. OK they didn’t play their best, but we won and THAT is what counts.
manslaughter, is that NTL upgrading all the lines around here for free or are you paing for it? I live in hope!
