I’m out Friday night for my Dads 70th birthday so will miss the live broadcast of the announcement but i’ll be keeping an eye on twatter, faceache etc for any news as it happens. I found the balance in BF42 pretty good to be fair, the aircraft were a mare when in the capable hands of someone like TOOTHBRU5H but i’d hope they would have learnt from previous titles how they could even that out a little in a new title.
Worst case scenario would be yet another modern or worse still a 2142 remake.

I think most of us remember ’42 with rose tinted glasses though, it was a nightmare for air. Tooth wasn’t with us then but fuck me Digit was a cunt in the air and it was impossible to play against a team with him on it, or any team with pilots dominating the air. That said you’re right regarding the lessons they’ve learned since then on balance. The problem is always how you make air viable without making it OP though, and they failed in BF2, did slightly better but not enough in BF3, and I’ve no idea about BF4. I’ve yet to see a game balance air right, but fuck it anyway, as long as infantry is fun most of the time then it’s usually ok.

If it’s true what i posted in another thread and BF is going back to WW2 then boy oh boy i can’t wait! Could we see many of the old guard XDC come out of retirement?
Doubt it man, too many are about to pick up their pensions 😉 It’s more likely a good BF title would get the rest of us who are active back together on the same title. It’s been ages since a mass appeal FPS has been out there, and although EA still sickens me, if they release a good looking title I’d be tempted to part with money for it.
Nothing really confirmed there but what’s interesting about this whole question is how close EA are holding their cards to their chest on this. Seems like this will be a big announcement.
I’ve never been convinced by the WW1 rumours because that seems totally random and I can’t see how it would be playable given the current FPS environment (eg rifles vs automatic guns). WW2 though might well work as it’s been a long enough time since the last triple A title in that period. WW2 is also very good from a balance point of view (ok we have to live with OP aircraft and underpowered German units) but still I wouldn’t get too excited yet because there are a lot of rumours flying around atm and nothing concrete regarding the source of them. I also don’t put a lot of faith in the express beyond their ability to manufacture views and click bait.

We actually have a facebook page, infact I think two. One I made when we were trying to combine youtube channels but I barely use facebook so am probably not the best admin, and I think Max has the other. If someone wants to make something they can be active at, go ahead but you’ll need to be in touch with what everyone is doing.
If you want I’ll stream some PS2 for you? Messy has a channel that’s quite popular too, though he’s more into racing games than our traditional FPS.

Paddy’s on sabbatical 🙂 I’ll tell you in private but suffice to say he reached the limit of the abuse he could take at the time. That plus I told him to shut up (or fuck off) one evening when he was annoying me and I was drunk, but it’s only fair to say it had been building a while on both sides.
