Well I have just managed to get a dual boot going, so will now go and hopefully install ArmA with XP!! Woot!
Got a spare drive here so later going to try and get a dual boot running with XP, think its probably easier!! lol
Will pop on later after I have managed to get a copy of XP.
Right, enabled onboard sound, disabled Audigy, same issue, with the -dsound amendment, have the latest nVidia drivers, will have a look to see if I can find a Audigy driver tomorrow.
Going to leave it until tomorrow now, been at it all night. Thanks for your help m8, will post some more results tomorrow when I have another go.

Yeah wouldnt show, linky should tho, its the usual black screen with some greyed boxes which I assume are menu buttons, but cant make out. Do you want me to try enabled onboard sound and running it again?
Just so you are clear, when I say black screen, I mean this (well a variation of this – this isnt mine):
Right, tried it again with Audigy disabled and the -dsound bit, came back with Arma stopped working……..CTD
The Audigy drivers I downloaded are telling me they dont recognise the hardware, think I will need to find other drivers, or possibly the correct ones!!! lol
Right, disabled the audigy and removed the shortcut amendments – get to the black screen again, so yes I think it is a sound issue, although it maybe a combination. Normally with the audigy enabled and normal shortcut it simply does not run, so getting somewhere.

Yeah got Vista 64 with SP 1 installed, latest nVidia drivers.
System is:
Q6600 CPU
9800 GTX card
4 Gig RAM
Asus Mobo
Audigy SoundcardOh thats ok, changed mine to fear too, as I said, got to a black screen with some graphically corruption with the sound bit in the shortcut, not sure what else I can do.
Well, got further than I had before, its not a black screen when it loads, which black boxes on the bottom, still trying.
