Anyone here got ArmA to run on Vista 64?
I have the game and supposedly the latest patch (1.14) resolves the 4 Gig problem with Vista 64, but mine simply runs (show the boxes with the ticks except the last two) and then nothing.
Upon looking in the task manager, it is running, but nothing.
Updated latest nVidia drivers, looked at numerous sites, nothing, nowt, zip………….anyone?
June 26, 2008 at 7:22 pm #6804911thSignalParticipantRuns ok on mine (vista ultimate 64bit) but I’m having trouble updating it,
June 26, 2008 at 7:51 pm #68050nOmParticipantSeedubs, do you have an xfi sound card?
even if you havent try this in your shortcut
G:ArmAfear.exe -nosplash -world=empty -dsound
-dsound being the help with sound (runs direct sound)
-nosplash (no intro)
-world=empty(dosent load map so loads fast)substitute g with your path
if you get the tick boxes and then nothing this should help(i uninstalled my xfi and use onboard, runs fine) although withxfi the sound is a bit ballsed up, have you got the latest drivers for xfi,it helps some ppl
let me know if it helps 😉
June 26, 2008 at 8:14 pm #68051SeedubsParticipantI have an Audigy card (the original), just one question, where am I pasting that – into the shortcut target? Also why is it shown as fear.exe?
Cheers
June 26, 2008 at 8:51 pm #68052SeedubsParticipantWell, got further than I had before, its not a black screen when it loads, which black boxes on the bottom, still trying.
June 26, 2008 at 8:58 pm #68053nOmParticipantfeck sry seedubs..i have an ati x2 and theres no profile for arma so as a workaround i use the fear profile… 😳
probably wanna change it
June 26, 2008 at 9:01 pm #68054SeedubsParticipantOh thats ok, changed mine to fear too, as I said, got to a black screen with some graphically corruption with the sound bit in the shortcut, not sure what else I can do.

yes mate right click on short cut, properties, paste in target ……include spaces
try here also Seedubs http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Troubleshooting_Vista” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
will take a look also and post any fixes here :win
1. do you have service pack 1 for vista?
2.delete and paste all of this short cut into your target line
C:ArmAarma.exe -nosplash -world=empty -dsound
3.get latest drivers for Audigy
4.try disabling Audigy, temporary to see if it is the probJune 26, 2008 at 9:08 pm #68056SeedubsParticipantYeah got Vista 64 with SP 1 installed, latest nVidia drivers.

June 26, 2008 at 9:19 pm #68059nOmParticipantarrrghhhh

here.. http://www.openal.org/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
June 26, 2008 at 9:24 pm #68060SeedubsParticipantI think I already updated those, but will give them a shot too.
June 26, 2008 at 9:31 pm #68061nOmParticipanttry disabling Audigy in device manager, just to see if arma fires up, then we can will know if its a sound issue. ( both with and without -dsound shortcut )
June 26, 2008 at 9:39 pm #68062SeedubsParticipantRight, disabled the audigy and removed the shortcut amendments – get to the black screen again, so yes I think it is a sound issue, although it maybe a combination. Normally with the audigy enabled and normal shortcut it simply does not run, so getting somewhere.
Many thanks for this help m8.
