Good games last night

I really wish I had a recording of that 2nd round on 2fort last night, it was as close as you can get to a perfect performance on the map as you can get 🙂 I’ve been talking a lot recently about the competitive side of TF2 and the skills you need for that etc, and while that side of the game is definitely superior, there is definitely also a skill to playing on pubs which we had down to a T last night.

My favourite part was when we had been pushed back to our courtyard, defending an early 2 nil lead, with Doc and me as soldiers taking out the main thrust of their attacks, while Queeks was leading the mop up operation, taking out anyone who got past us. With the rest of our team on the back foot as well, the opposition made the mistake of pushing too many people forward, which allowed Doc and me to launch a counterattack which, I have to say, was poetry in motion 🙂 We dropped down off our battlements, behind the remnants of their latest push, and swept across the bridge instinctively focusing our fire so effectively that we didn’t even break our stride, despite running into 5 or 6 of their team on route to their Intel. We made a mistake on our way out, but it didn’t matter because we got their Intel as far as the front of their base, and picked it up on the second attempt. 3 nil, and their attack starts to falter amongst the confusion around who is on defensive duty, and our team seizes the initiative, pushing all our heavy classes across the bridge and into their main entrance. Again I’ve rarely seen such an effective push on a public server, because even without a medic, we took out a level 3 sentry covering the grate, with barely a break in our step, and our team swept down to their Intel from all directions. I reached it first, picked it up, and held back as Doc took the lead along the spiral staircase on the way out, and with Jim also having comically joined the attack at this point as Engy :lol:, we had too much for the sniper/pyro/demo combo trying to block our exit. I got out across their battlements, with Doc and Queeks covering the back, and from there it was a relatively easy couple of rocket jumps home to cap an impressive 4-0 victory 🙂 Also an XDC 1-2-3 on the scoreboard, if I’m not mistaken 🙂
