ParticipantHey guys 😀
Been playing the pc beta and i can say after a few hours on it today that i really enjoyed it. Not played an online shooter since BF2 and i just felt at home playing this.
Managed to spend a bit of time in a tank and it was just like old times. 🙂Server browser is still broken though but i never noticed any serious lag while i was playing in the random sever it put me in. The map is very white and bright but if
you edit the config setting and change bloom to false then it becomes alot easier on the eye, so try that if it bothers you. Will definately be buying this now so hope to see some of you lot again.

KeymasterCool Mooky, sounds like you’ve a much better setup than me, so good to hear the game’s working out (and to see you again!). I’ve just managed to get into a game for the second time, but sadly it’s not happening for me. The graphical problem I mentioned earlier is fine now, with the driver update, but the game runs at far too low a framerate for it to be playable for me. I was speaking with a guy in work today who was talking about CPU being used in games mostly for Physics, so I wonder whether the destructable terrain would come under this heading, and that the game actually does require the multicore processor it advertises as minimum spec. Mine’s an ancient setup atm, with just a 2.6GHz single core, so I’d be interested to hear from anyone else with a low end system but who does have a multicore processor, and compare our performance. I’m mostly working up my own theory on this though, so if anyone can put me right, or advise me further, please jump in before I spend what little I have on something that won’t help enough 🙂

ParticipantI’ve been playing this again today, and every game has been destroyed by lag. Very much like when the original Bad Company was released.
Press B to exit a vehicle and nothing happens. Can’t walk up stairs as you just fall through them, have to run and jump and that works. Aim at something and all of a sudden you are looking up at the sky… very annoying how the lag moves you around.
Oh a positive note to spot an enemy is very easy and you get crazy amounts of points for it. Press the “back” button.

ParticipantNew update released and now server browser works. Joined a UK server and no lag at all, everything running nice and smooth for me.
Loving it so far, the sound effects are superb. 😀

I did mention this back in the thread where I was discussing the 360 version, I likened it to soldner which promissed this, but never happened.. I just cant see a PC without 1000s spent on it liking this option.. but hey thats what the beta is for, hopefully they will sort it out

ParticipantI cant work out how to get the mini-gun upgrade for the UAV. Some people have it, and it’s damn scary!

Multicore processor’s hardly cost the Earth, so long as you avoid the i series top of range stuff. I just hope that, along with my current gfx card, a cheap MB, Quad Core, and RAM, will do the job for me. I expect it will, but there’s always that element of doubt, hence why I’m asking for advice.
Mooky – what are your PC specs?
February 1, 2010 at 4:08 pm #73795MooKy
ParticipantQuad core 2.9ghz. 4gb ram. Geforce 9800GT 512mb. X-fi soundcard. Runs this game no problem at all on high settings and didn’t cost me anywhere near a £1000…. more like half of that. 😀
The game is great guys…. just get it!!

ParticipantCant even do half of £1000! Even if I could, I just wouldnt anymore
ah well
Just read a tip on other forum, not tested so dont blame me if it doesnt work :
If your computer struggle you can change it to DirectX9 by going to:
(My)Documents>BFBC2Beta>settings.ini
open in a text editor and change DxVersion=auto to DxVersion=9
There also is a new update, if you can’t download it automaticaly run beta as an administrator.
If you want to use all four cores create a new shortcut on your desktop and add:
+fullproc
at the end of the target line.

ParticipantI can’t see how this us any different fro the original one- graphics are the same, controls are still clunky, weapons are the sane, vehicles are the same… I really don’t understand what all the fuss is about!!
February 9, 2010 at 12:46 pm #73800Alzir
KeymasterThe fuss is that it’s out on PC.

ParticipantThe graphics are refined, but not that much different I’ll grant you, the destructible terrain is more extensive, the maps are bigger, more vehicles, new maps, etc. The main difference is the destructible terrain improvements. It may just be that you chose a shit console though 😉

ParticipantOuch! No! Don’t insult my beautfully awesome PS3!
*Turks goes off to watch a blueray while sulking!*
