I wouldn’t bother with the amd at the moment, although I know Intel is more expensive it simply blows AMD out of the water and I’m an AMD fan.

Also why bother SLI’ing the 2 7950’s when to be honest the performance boost you get isn’t really that great. Buy a 8800 with an Intel Core Duo 2 6700 or above it will blow the AMD spec out of the water.(although it’s probably 150 quid more)

Actually I tend to agree some what here, although there is some overall performance gains for SLI the addtional card doesn’t really justify the additional expeniture. However that being said it’s more about load balancing rather than performance gain as each card renders a specific area or the screen.

Insane you are a nobber with more money than sense ATI Crossmylegs with bizarrely stupid dongle cable crap hanging out the back of you case had some advantages over the early incarnations of SLI mainly being that it was not dependant on 2 identical cards in the array, which was a major draw bag for SLI. It terms of performance gains between either SLi or Crossyour fingers and hope it was negligable and really was dependant on user preferance for ATI or Nvidia.

Nvidia have now moved the SLi configuation requirement alongs somewhat meaning that your are no longer required to have an Identical pair of cards as long as they are SLi enabled then you can preety much put what ever cards you want into the array. (McQ will pobably correct me if i’m wrong ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

With regards to Intel vs AMD, as loathed as I am to say it, the new Intel Core Duo Extreme kick the shit out of any AMD Processor on the market at the moment. These truely are greatly chips and although still a little pricey at face value, you have to consider that even some of the entry level conroes have a reportly 20 % gain over the high end FX63.

This mean that the Intel’s are the cheaper proposition when you look at cost vs performance which is pretty much what we all want.

At the end of the day you have to set yourself a budget, stick to it and get the best you can for your money.

Yes it is possible for a PSU to loose power to a specific device.

The series of cables and connectors supply various voltages to the internal compontents. These are typically 12v and 5v however it may not be the PSU it could be the voltage rail on the system board not carrying enought power from the PSU to the PCI / PCI-e bus.

If you have a PCI-e Card these draw a lot of power from the PSU so you need a pretty beefy PSU to guarentee enough power is availabe to the card especially under load.

It could also be the card itself.

Just posted in the other thread http://xdcuk.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1740&highlight=

The latest update I have is it appears to be a serverside issue specifically when running Titan Maps

Workaround to run Titan is to only have Titan Maps running for ba single round, wether this works or not remains to be seen.
