I think beta 2 went up to 500 systems. I’m pretty sure the full game has the entire known universe, which is just nuts, but gives you an idea of the enormaty of the game.
Probably a good idea to wait for gamma, there is a lot of bug’s including a game breaker on the launch of beta 2, but it really is fun.
I’m still lurking. Generally having a quick blast on BF4 or in Elite.
Be good to have some XDC fun events

E:D had a huge update to beta 2 on Tuesday, but in the process the game got borked.
It’s a real credit to the E : D community that the rage post’s are at a minimum and are letting the dev’s do their job without the threats of murder, kidnap or returning the game like the highly amusing BF4 debacle.
Once the issues with beta 2 are ironed out, I’d say it is worth the 50 quid for early access. But by all accounts the game is still due for a 2014 release, so denending on how much you want the game i might be worth holding off until gamma/release.
OK ,i’ve got the beta………played for 10 mins and 1st impressions is ZOMG it’s BF4 capture the flag with cops n robbers. In the olden days it would have been a community based free mod.
I might be convinced to give this a proper teamplayer shot tonight to give it a chance.

I’ve got too much on my gaming plate with Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen beta out this week to even think about playing anything else for the foreseeable.
It looks fucking awesome. I honestly haven’t been this excited about a game for yonks. Even upgraded my joystick to a HOTAS, and SOOOOOOO trying not to spend on a rift DK2. Apparently Elite on the rift is the bollocks.
Matt, have you checked out Star Citizen? With the questions you’ve been asking it sounds like SC ticks most of your boxes. I kickstarted SC way back and the Dog Fighting Module (alpha) is out on the 29th May. Busy time for Space Sims. 🙂

It’s not in Beta yet, 30th May.
From what I can gather on numerous forms, the game is both single player (PVE) or multiplayer (PVP). It’s not about conquering space as such, more of trading, pirating, bountyhunting, exploring. As signal mentioned, it has been confirmed planetary landings will feature in the full game. I think there are various drives at your disposal such as hyperspace & galactic, but I’ve had no dealings with these yet as I only have access to a very early alpha version that is a pretty basic single player combat version. The people that played silly money have access to a later alpha version that has the docking facility and the ability to travel to a few star systems and this in extensively reviewed in a boat load of YouTube vids. Not sure of the scale of the systems, but there has been mention of how the universe is being accurately mirrored and there will be over 400 BILLION star systems to visit, how this works ingame is yet to be unveiled.
