ParticipantWow.. just me and WET then!
You are more than welcome! I am about to expand into my new premises – 1300 sqft of awesomness. Just worked out how to draw something in VR and 3D print it. Awesome is an understatement!

ParticipantThis is what I ended up getting:
Intel Core™ i7-6700 Processor, 3.40GHz w/ 8MB Cache
Antec Three Hundred Two Case
Samsung 750 EVO Series Solid State Drive, 500GB
Asus GeForce GTX1070 Turbo Series 8GB PCI-E w/ Dual HDMI, Dual DP, DVI-D
Microsoft Windows 10 Home (64 bit) OEM
Seagate 2TB Desktop HDD SATA III w/ 64MB Cache
D-Link DWA-582 Wireless Dual Band AC 1200 PCI Express Desktop Adapter Card
Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB DDR4 2133MHz CL14 Dual Channel Kit (2 x 8GB), Black
Corsair CS Series 550W Modular Power Supply
Asus H170-PRO /CSM w/ DDR4 2133, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit LAN, 2-Way CrossFireXSo – I am now looking for a monitor to display what the VR user is seeing, allowing his/her (probably his!) mates to see the action. I’ve heard about 1400p – is that what I should be looking for?

Wrong thread WET!
What games did you play?
And Stalker – I would build the PC myself if I was technically inclined, however given the importance of having a functional PC, I will need the technical support which comes with having a prebuilt system. Perhaps if the business takes off I will be more adventurous in the future.

If you’re launching a company based on VR rental, are you sure just meeting the minimum specs is the way to go? Would it not be a good idea to exceed them a little to provide the option to turn up the graphics settings a little to give the best performance, perhaps giving your company a good rep by word of mouth?
I’m not sure about CAD prices, but have you looked at a self build as well as laptop? Gaming laptops are coming out with GTX 1060s, 1070s and 1080s. They are more expensive but perhaps more portable for a customer? They could even be backpack mounted for increased customer comfort?
Just a few thoughts. The build you suggest does meet the minimum specs though if that’s your question.
That is a good suggestion, and yes… I would like to offer the best experience at the most affordable price. I have run the figures, and believe I can make a considerable amount of money from this project, with the option of buying a second unit after a couple of months, as well as hiring a minion to run it for me. So for the time being, I would be looking to just get the company up and running cheaply, and then, based on popularity, get a better PC to offer a cooler experience.
Additionally, I have been blown away by the “Mixed Reality” videos out there, so will be making a green room for my second iteration, so that users can video themselves in the game and post their experiences online. Check this out for details: (post below!)
