Pity you weren’t about around Spring/early summer, as this was awesome back then, playing almost every night with the rats. I’m certain we could still arrange a game or two with them on one of their servers some night (mixed teams rather than a match), as it’s still a great game for a muck about on from time to time, but I think as a regular game, that boat’s already sailed a while back. TF2 on the other hand, still has a fair bit of life left in it, but I’d only get it if you can pick it up cheap. Oh and Insurgency’s not too bad, and it’s free, so long as you’ve got a source game.
Not sure if I’m free on Friday, but I still have a game of this from time to time, and my brother’s still playing it a lot too. Maybe we could arrange a versus game with the rats over the weekend?

Well that was the original point of the thread, and it would be good to get some ideas on the table.
I was thinking of an old school Rogue Spear, a BF1942 , and a BF2 night, on consectutive weekends, as well as possibly a BFV/2142/COD4/TF2/Insurgency/RO night maybe on the 4th weekend or sometime inbetween. It only works if we get enough people interested, but I intend to extend an invitation to the likes of 7DR, and with their help we may be able to turn this into more than a random muck around, with a friendly match a possibility with enough interest.
I’ll put up another thread to carry on the discussion about a meet up.
hmm you’ll be lucky to get it cheaper than what easyjet currently advertise on their website for November. If you travelled on Halloween morning and back on the Monday it would cost £40-£50 return to London (work internet is not letting me view the full cost with tax included). Just an example weekend, but the point is that we’re far enough in advance of November to get cheap deals….and that’s also cheaper than anyone driving up.
If it’s November, just name your date and I’ll see if I can work around it. I’ve the first two weeks of the month off work, my Brother is visiting one weekend, and I may be going home one of the others. No solid dates for anything set yet though, so let me know asap.
So is this a mission pack that you buy on top of the original, is it a free upgrade to the original, or is it a stand alone improved version?
Yea I never really took a fancy to MMORG’s until a couple of years ago when I discovered how unbelievably deep and involving they can be. Which one takes you is all a matter of personal taste, and I’d say a lot of it comes down to which group you end up playing it with, and I get a lot of hugs from the guys I’m with 😉
Anyway if CSS works for you then there’s a good chance any of TF2, L4D, or Insurgency will work too, so jump on Steam sometime and I’ll help you get setup. I’ll also sort your forum access when I get a free moment because there’s a thread that might interest you in xdc chat.
As for pint, let me know when suits, as I have very little in the way of plans ever made that I can’t cancel at short notice….and in fact, where are you watching the gay club derby on Sunday?
I regularly see at least 10 XDC playing PC games online, so if we’ve 20 playing on XBox live, we’re a lot more active than I thought 🙂
I actually just live down the road from you mate, around Haymarket, fancy a pint in town some night? Don’t listen to these people saying there aren’t many of us playing the PC these days, it’s rubbish, but there is about a 50 50 split between active members on X-Box live and on PC. Games of choice on PC vary, but generally speaking people are playing a source related game on Steam or are in their MMORG of choice (Eve, WoW, and Warhammer being the choices atm). Get steam up and running, then add me to your friends list by email (oliver_closeov@hotmail.com), then we’ll see what that shitty mac can do 😉
I was going to suggest the same, but October’s not really the best time of year for it. Having said that though, I have the week of the 19th booked off work, and two weeks also at the start of November so it would suit me ok assuming the costs weren’t too high. You guys could always pile up to Edinburgh, where I could put a couple of people up for the night if necessary, and Erratic Space lives fairly close by too.

On the PC? From time to time I’ll have a game, but I’m at the stage of only being interested in versus mode, and only like this when playing with people I know.
hmm’d and ha’d about this all day Doc (ID issue aside), but decided in the end to stay in given I got so pissed last night, and I didn’t want to start the process all over again with an early start in the morning. I’ll get my replacement passport/driving licence and hopefully can make it the next time your over.
