I have to agree with Ben and CH on this, crowdfunding should be based on a return on the investment or else it’s just charity. Very noble to give to charity and all but if the charity is aiming to make themselves a profit, they should return the favour to those who supported them at the start. This isn’t really cynical either Doc, it’s just business sense, and when people recognise a completely free source of credit they’d be fools not to take advantage.
I can see your argument though, in that your paying for someone to make you something, but there’s a lot of risk in there.
I think I’ll wait and see how they get on with it because while I think they may be able to develop some technology which could later be sold onto bigger developers, the game they seem to be developing themselves doesn’t strike me as having much more than a niche appeal. It could be something that maybe sword enthusiasts will find a use for in the same way plane enthusiasts might enjoy MS Flight Sim, but I find it hard to imagine how they could make this fun in the long run without introducing some crazy ass ninja stuff or lightsabers.
I will watch this space though.

Does look a bit similar, but think that’s stretching things a bit far 🙂 When the PS4 is out and they get off dx9 we might see some graphical progress on games like this.
The only reason there is hardcore in bf3 is to appease the cod masses they’re trying to attract. Bf has always been an arcade war sim and hardcore goes against everything I enjoy in a normal bf experience. Sniper rule is a cod concept as well, picked up briefly by bad company 2 but restored to reasonable levels in bf3, unless on hardcore.
Lol I agree actually but left the negative out of last post because I feel better about this than diablo. It looks shit, but it is for ps3, and I also guess the hardwork was getting a fps on one platform integrate with a mmorg on another. If that works out it’s potentially awesome, and if not, well hats off for trying.
Aye but you get all the ‘expansions’ with it…charging for them is a different matter, but lets face it, pc developer’s have been losing out to consoles for a few years and a lot of that is down to dlc. Unfortunately with console masses mostly new to the internet they allowed themselves firstly to get ring fenced by restrictive pay to play models and accepted dlc payments as the norm. Add to that 10 million wow subscribers paying for regular expansions, and I suppose the success of other mmorgs and you have to eventually realise people are willing to pay quite a lot for online hobbies.
Not really excusing it, but our free ride can’t last forever, and i’ll be quite happy with this investment given the product’s quality to date. The old ea are money grabbing bastards aegument comes to mind, but everyone’s at it, and if you don’t keep your revenue up you’ll lose staff eventually and then we’ll spend the next five years grumbling over the continued dominance of cod and it’s simplistic multiplayer.

Maybe something that might clinch the deal for paddy as well…..after the summer of course.
Why not keep it until a few months after ah opens? Although I guess in game cash will soon have real world value, like in eve and plex.
Can’t wait to see how this integrates with eve. They must surely release it for pc at some point as well.

Ahh that is something I should’ve guessed but I am purposefully allowing all information in one ear and out the other regarding this game as it sounds too addictive.
