    Ok…
    1. I have given you 2x links to companys that sell “the rare as fcuk master card”

    2. Maybe when 2x cores came out there wasnt any support for dual core cpus but games that are being written now WILL have dual core support…and i dont think people buy pc JUST to play games so to have two or more cores would be a bonus for dvd ripping/photoshop/mp3`s etc.

    3. All the 32 bit Vista os support 4 gig of ram but the hardware in the system is reserving the address space.
Since 32-bit processors are limited to 4 gig of address space, hardware
that requries addressing( like video cards or other devices including PCI)
has to reserve some of the address space, thus limiting the amount of RAM
that is available to Windows. Windows is not reserving that memory, the
hardware in the system is reserving that space. Since there is a
limitation of 4 gig of address space and there is overlap, the amount of
RAM that can be addressed is reduced by the amount of address space the
    hardware requests.

    In more simple terms…..

If you installed total 4GB memory, the system will detect less than 4GB of total memory because of address space allocation for other critical functions, such as:

    – System BIOS (including motherboard, add-on cards, etc..)
    – Motherboards resources
    – Memory mapped I/O
    – configuration for AGP/PCI-Ex/PCI
    – Other memory allocations for PCI devices

Different onboard devices and different add-on cards (devices) will result of different total memory size.
e.g. more PCI cards installed will require more memory resources, resulting of less memory free for other uses.

On a SLI system, since PCI-Ex graphic cards will occupy around 256MB, another 256MB will be occupied after you install a 2nd PCI-Ex graphic card. Hence, 2.75GB memory left only if two SLI cards installed on A8N-SLI Premium while 3.0GB memory left with one graphic card without other add-on devices.

This limitation applies to most chipsets & Windows XP 32-bit version operating system.

If you install Windows XP 32-bit version operating system, we recommend that you install less than 3GB of total memory. If more than 3GB memory is required for your system, then below two conditions must be met:
    1. The memory controller which supports memory swap functionality is used. The latest chipsets like Intel 975X, 955X, Nvidia NF4 SLI Intel Edition, Nvidia NF4 SLI X16, and AMD K8 CPU architecture can support the memory swap function.
    2. Windows XP Pro X64 Ed. (64-bit) or other OS which can address more than 4GB memory.

32-bit versions of Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate: 4GB
    32-bit Windows Vista Starter: 1GB
64-bit versions of Windows Vista Home Basic: 8GB
64-bit versions of Windows Vista Home Premium: 16GB
64-bit versions of Windows Vista Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate: 128GB

#1 Forget about Crossfire. It’s hard enough as it is to find a Mastercard… it’s as nice as Nvidia’s SLi but it’s much harder to track down compatible cards to make it work whereas Nvidia are much easier and much more forgiving to mix and match.

#2 Forget about multiple cores. Nice yes, but most games don’t support them; you will get better gaming performance for the majority of games on a damned good single core for the price, maybe even cheaper.

#3 Forget about Vista. On it’s own it is nice enough and it works, but not much else works for it. By the time Vista will be of any use to you, you will be due for a new PC again anyway… also it’s not really worth going for anything less than Ultimate and if you want to make use of all 4gb of that RAM + your VRAM you’re going to need a x64-bit version.

    Jesus christ monkey balls……..

I thought all of the things you said in the “you will live longer going 200mph” thread was BS but this has got to be the worst/least thought about statment i have read this year…..

I did have the G5 but the left click mouse button got an intermittant fault and wouldnt always work.I recently bought the Microsoft Habu which is basicly a Razer Copperhead (as Microsoft and Razer designed this together) and imo i find it better than the G5 was.

Also don’t forget your Graphics card RAM counts towards the total 4gb the OS will support… as my friend found out when he splashed out on 2x 768mb 8800GTX’s and 4Gb of DDR2… Windows x86 only saw 1.5gb of VRAM and 2.5Gb of DDR2… After installing x64 Vista/XP he has had no problems since… apart from sucking at every game he plays 😛

How the fuck can Video ram count as system ram?? ❓ Yeah ok if you have onboard vga THAT will steal video ram from your system ram but never in my 9 years of building/repairing computer systems have i ever seen or heard owt like that.

The 32-bit editions of Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise and Ultimate, all support a maximum of 4 GB of RAM. The real variations come when we start looking at the 64-vit versions. On a system running x64 Vista Home Basic, you can add as much as 8 GB of RAM. x64 Vista Home Premium supports as far as 16 GB of RAM.

However, with Windows Vista, there is a clear distinction between the maximum supported physical memory and the virtual addresses that the operating system will use. The x86 editions of Vista will not deliver full support for all the RAM installed in the case that this amounts to 4GB.
