With the game stats that are recorded by ranked servers, anyone with an afternoon to spare could write the code to remove all padded stats from all players in a matter of minutes.
At the same time, it would be trivial to update the individual servers to analyse the round stats and remove padded stats during or at the end of every game round.
Why hasn’t it been done? wtf is the problem?
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr etc.
November 23, 2006 at 3:48 am #40005AnonymousParticipantThe problem is EA don’t give a shit when they’ve got your money and now they have it, they never will =/
The only fair thing for EA to do would be to keep medals and badges but just remove the leaderboard, so there is no visual indication of who > who, but you can still be proud of your shiny badge collection as some of them can be quite difficult to earn.
The only thing we can do is grab noobs from here and there and point them in the right direction and guide the lost souls before they become corrupted!!! Then train them in terrorist-style camps to scour the servers ona crusade-esque mission to rid the game off statpadding asshats 😛
November 23, 2006 at 8:40 am #40006XDCErratic-SpaceParticipantHow is that fair? Besides the fact that only a few wks ago you were posting each day about your rank in the world. I like the leaderboard, I don’t bother with the overall one but I look from time to time at the buddies one. Why should those of us that don’t cheat have to miss something because of a minority that do? The fix is to write a code that checks PB scores and wipes anyone who gets over xxx in a round (before ribbons etc).
That’s what I think at least.
November 23, 2006 at 9:35 am #40007XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantToo be honest it doesn’t really bother me. A few of the guys who I’ve knifed are ‘tards who used the cheats. I guess that’s why they were so easy to knife because they don’t know the first thing about how to play the game. Sure they might be highly ranked, but they’re crap players. Here’s a little story to illustrate my point.
When I was a younger man, I used to do Ju Jitsu, but only got as high as green belt, although I did the martial art for about 4 years. This was at a club in Berkhamsted, although there was another one in Watford. The two sensei’s who ran these clubs knew each other and were in constant competition with one another. The one who owned Watford would constantly tell our sensei about how many brown and blue belts they had at his club, and how our club was full of low ranked belts. My sensei didn’t mind, in fact he used to tell us that he wasn’t going to let us rush through the grading.
“I’d rather have a dojo full of excellent green and orange belt students, than one with half-arsed blue and brown belts” he’d say.
Martial arts morale to story is: Judge a man not buy the colour of his belt, but his prowess in combat.
November 23, 2006 at 10:08 am #40008Mr.FenixParticipantIt’s a rule of sports and games that cheats are disqualified. If cheating is in the rules then there are no rules and no limits. So they have rules and disqualify cheats. Level playing-field, fair play, honesty, spiritual concepts of theft. Mostly though, it’s sad and selfish.
I’ve done a bit of ju jitsu and liked it. There’s a club just down my road I go to sometimes for an extra workout. I’ve been doing kung fu for 9yrs in a place where the teacher doesn’t do gradings or awards. We just sweat and tear bits off each other.
Anyway.., there’s nothing wrong with the game ranks so long as they’re refereed. Rephrase orginal question: why are Dice/EA such prize assholes?

I support Penix … i mean Fenix in whatever he says!
November 23, 2006 at 11:26 am #40010sickofitallParticipantJesus, could you imagine if XDC was a jujitsu club? People would get banned for using a Vortex throw or some crap like that on account of it being “gay” or “lame”.
“SOIA YOU BIG GAY! THAT’S NOT ALLOWED WTF!!!” etc…November 23, 2006 at 11:50 am #40011XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantSOIA vs Neon
“Take that Neon!”“Ooh me jewels!”
“Attack from behind will you?”“Aw christ! Me plums!”
“My steel fist shall settle your wrath!”“Mercy! I beg you! I think one’s burst!”
“You are an honorable opponent.”“There goes the other one!”
“A cobra stikes from the ground!”“Jesus! Please stop! Me and the wife are trying for a family!”
“Sometimes it is best to vary the attack.”“Oh thank god!”
“Surprise!”“They’re in my throat!”

In those posts they were always the secondary, added after my main point 😛 And even then didn’t start posting them till someone else posted theirs 😛
November 23, 2006 at 12:51 pm #40015XDCiNSANEParticipantGet him Fenix!!!
November 23, 2006 at 1:25 pm #40016LensmanParticipantPersonally I think stripping people of ranks and points to make the leaderboard “right” is the wrong thing to do. The board is so transient anyway that it does not matter a damn. It’s just not important.
But what I think padders should be stripped of is the unlocks. These are the bits of kit that make you enjoy the game and is the only reason I try to increase my points.
Imagine how these idiots would feel being stripped right back to basic kit.
Kick’em where it hurts – right in the unlocks!
November 23, 2006 at 1:30 pm #40017AnonymousParticipantThat would work Lensman – except they don’t need the unlocks to statpad =/ Most statpadders up there probably barely even use the standard equipment tbh 🙁
November 23, 2006 at 5:20 pm #40018DeicistParticipantWhat’s the problem? Is there anything in the EULA agreement about statpadding? If not then people are well within their rights to play the game however they want and get as many points as they want. I couldn’t really care less about what people do on servers I’m not playing on. As long as our server is well admined and statpadders are kicked I couldn’t give a fuck what the leaderboard says or what unlocks people have.
