ParticipantJust got my new phone today – VERY impressed with it so far. Got all the stuff I like on my old HTC phone (wireless/ bluetooth/big screen) but also has proper headphone jack, accelarometer, superb video and music playback, in built support for video and podcast feeds, and a very nice GUI (better than windows mobile in my opinion.) Not got a querty keyboard… but i find the touch screen pad to be just fine. Way better than the IPHone and quite a bit cheaper.

4/5 I would say.

ParticipantLOL – you were right turks – but the recent firmware update has ironed out all the little annoyances – smooth as now.

Participant*cough* viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4899 *cough*

ParticipantIm going touch screen after my current contract runs out… cant decide on whether I should get this or the devils phone… or theres another one DHC or something – with LED screen or something… innit!

ParticipantLOL sorry Insane never saw that 🙂
Deffo need to update the firmware m8 – really helps a lot of issues – got a huge changelog. Download nokia updater from the website then plug in your phone and go. only slight risk is a power cut while you are flashing the phone which will turn it into a brick 😆
Only gripe i have so far is the scroll function on the internet pages… works but it isn’t as smooth as the Iphone. Thats the difference between a capacitive and resistive touch screen I guess… but Id rather save the 200 quid and have a fully featured phone like this than an overpriced lady boys phone from apple.

Participantno worries, only pointed you too it for discussions 🙂
I know how to do the flashing, been checking for weeks since I got it (which for me was on release of it) but been too ill to be arsed since, will deffo do it at somepoint soon
Did thee know you can do an on the fly flash? i.e no installing nokia suite and attaching to PC, no updates available to do it as yet, but it is possible for future (or if your in USA) 🙂
I like the features of the iphone (esspecially the music album selection) and was tempted to get one, but majority of the stuff put me off, Itunes the major factor for me.. *shudder*

Tried to update mine but it keeps saying I have the latest.. which is what its been saying since I bought it

ParticipantRight… slight issue here. The update definitely helped the sensitivity of the screen a bit – but I found I didn’t have the other stuff I was looking for (ability to take pics with the front cam/ geotagging etc) Turns out I could only update to v11.0.009 when the v20 has been out for over a month now. Really annoying as on contacting Nokia it seems that updates are staggered according to what product code you have on your phone… so some phones still can’t update their phones even though other people with the same phones have updated AGES ago.
Pissed off – but will just have to be patient I guess.
Insane have you tried ripping movies onto yours? How easy was it/ what software / codecs did you use?
March 29, 2009 at 2:39 pm #71780XDCiNSANE
ParticipantAs far as I know the camera on the front is for video calls only, unless they plan to do a FW update, dont think the camera is much cop, although only viewed internal meself
v20 is available in India, It as you mentioned has been for some time, why we have to wait is beyond me 🙁
not tried it, only really use it for music, but will have a go at some point to see, I already have software for such useage but on other PC, if I crank it up I’ll check it, I use it for DS mainly but sure it will work as its multiusabubble

Participant20.0.012 now available Insane.
Phone is really sweet now.
Has added use of the front camera (not that useful but hey! And geotagging if you are into that. More importantly it has improved the auto rotate and a lot of the apps run a bit smoother/ the screen works better.
Basic change log here.
