I haven’t been able to connect to the BBC from work for a couple of weeks whereas the guy two desks from me could.
Today as an experiment I ran firefox through a proxy in the UK (I’m in Japan) and it works fine. A couple of other guys had the same prob and this solved it for them too.
It can’t be the Beeb blocking me because some people are able to view it so I guess it’s a problem here at work.
Have you any ideas why
i) it’s happening
ii) and why a proxy solves it?
There are about 50 pcs on two wireless networks that run from the same ip address. That’s all I know.
This isn’t a major problem since I’ve fixed it but I would be interested to know what’s going on or even if any of you have any theories.
Cheers.
P.S. Using the proxy brings up the following message so it seems I have to disable it before posting this:
You are trying to use a node of the CoDeeN CDN Network. Your IP address is not recognized as a valid PlanetLab address, so your access to CoDeeN does not include all HTTP types. Why is that? Is it to protect the private forums?
