Dear Multiplay Customer,
This morning the air conditioning system in the London datacentre failed.
Air conditioning engineers from the datacentre are on-site attempting to resolve the problem. However, with temperatures reaching critical levels, we have had to take the step to shut down the bulk of our server farm in order to prevent damage to any systems. Critical systems such as Clanforge and hosting remain online, but the majority of dedicated servers, clanservers and voice comms servers have had to be taken down. Our own engineers are on site monitoring our suite closely and we will bring servers back up as soon as it is safe to do so.
With the entire datacentre and many customers affected, we anticipate a swift resolution to this problem. We will keep you appriased of the developments as we have them. In the meantime, please accept our apologies for the outage and rest assured that all that can be done is being done to resolve this situation.
Cheers,
Craig “Wizzo” Fletcher

January 24, 2007 at 3:27 pm #44104XDCOldPhartParticipantDear Multiplay Customer,
We have been informed by the datacentre that the air conditioning is now back online, although not at 100%. The temperature in the suite is slowly coming back to normal and we anticipate being able to have all affected services back online by 5pm.
The reason for this delay is the temperature is still too high to safely turn the majority of our server farm back on and will take another 1-2 hours at the current rate before we can start. Obviously, if the temperature drop picks up, we will bring servers online sooner.
As a result of this prolonged outage, customers with affected services will be receiving a 1 day credit to their service. For example, if your server (that has been down today) was due for renewal on 10th February, it will be updated to be renewed on the 11th.
Once again apologies for the disruption. We will be bringing services back to normal operation as soon as possible. In the meantime if you have any queries, please contact us through Live Support (http://clanservers.multiplay.co.uk/cgi-bin/irc/irc.cgi), through support ticket @ http://support.multiplay.co.uk or by phone on 0871 408 1337.
Cheers,

Sure, but I had to have carnal knowledge of a platypus to earn that. What’s he done to be known as ‘Wizzo’. I hope it’s not for injesting something.
