Well… I am bored senseless without my usual COH games with Spunker… so have fished out a copy of morrowind with the tribunal and blood moon expansions to play on my ownsome.
Overall I am impressed. For such an old game the graphics are very good. In fact the level of detail and imagination in the different regions excels that of oblivion in some measures.
Now that I have played it a bit I see what SOIA was talking about in his review of oblivion. The dungeons in the original are much better thought out/not as samey, and the world feels much realer in that you dont get the scaling level of difficulty ithat Oblivion introduced (which I thought was maybe a good thing at the time – but now in retrospect agree with SOIA in that it was probably a mistake.)
The main criticism of the game I guess is that it is just TOO big. You can get lost in an endless whirl of minor quests and thus lose some of the narrative drive which you could normally expect from a single player.
Overall a 7.5/10. Anyone who enjoyed oblivion might do well to go old school and buy this game too.

August 24, 2007 at 10:34 am #57161TurksMeisterParticipantOooo what am i talking about – its single player!
Thought you were talking about neverwinter nights!
Only played Morrowind a couple of times, as Oblivion came out almost as soon as I got it.
Might get back in to that, when I have finished my work.
August 24, 2007 at 11:05 am #57162TurksMeisterParticipantBTW – did anyone play Oblivion on the Xbox? Im vaguely thinking about getting one, but would depend on the quality of gamage… obviously!

Not tried the expansion yet but I’ll tell you about it in due course

It’s a decent game and it’s not orcs n dorks for a change. Has a “Blade” type setting but without that annoying pillock Wesley Snipes swanning around like a gaylord.
Bit rushed at the end but a really good game overall.

August 28, 2007 at 2:33 pm #57166XDCiNSANEParticipantI believe “Two Worlds” is supposed to be the best game now.. although it looks wank to me!
August 28, 2007 at 3:01 pm #57167XDCsPUNKerParticipanthave to agree with you there Mike. It looks like a wank version of oblivion. Perhaps the pics are just old pre rendered ingame shots
August 28, 2007 at 3:33 pm #57168XDCiNSANEParticipantI downloaded a few vids a few weeks back to see what the cuffufle was about.. it looks worse lol
August 28, 2007 at 8:05 pm #57169XDCMunkeeParticipantplaying oblivion on the 360 at the mo and its top. graphics are mint but not sure there up to the pc version.
played morrowing for about 4 years on and off and still havent got it compleated. my player is fully maxed out and invincible thanks to his sword that steals 50% health on contact and kills almost everyting in 2 hits. got bored after i ran out of good weapons and armour to find. i got all the best bits apart from some enchanted ebony thing that you get for the last temple quest. -
