Everyone was reading this book on the Tube about 5 years ago, so I decided the time was now right for me to do so.
All the book does is basically explain the history, techniques and effects of fast food, with each chapter taking on a specific part of the culture. Particularly interesting (and shocking) was the section on how the cattle is slaughtered and prepared, and how dangerous it is for the unprotected (uninsured and unskilled) staff.
The book does have political leanings, but not like watching a Michael Moore documentary, but it’s still an interesting look at big business and how much of a scourge it is on society. It’s also particularly apt now I’m in the process of changing jobs to a big multinational company and am about to become an ‘asset’.
Worth a read, but it made me want to order a Happy Meal 😕
