March 8, 2008 at 8:47 am #65853PoD1st-BWParticipantnot impressed, lag is ok-ish, still not gone away completely and average ping is 10-20% higher than normal
March 8, 2008 at 10:14 am #65854TurksMeisterParticipantI thought it was fine… but was very tired at the time… will give it another go soon.
March 8, 2008 at 10:16 am #65855XDC_WolfParticipantAhh, Pod, it was smooth as before you arrived, but Gonzo iinformed us that as it was a test server it was currently hosting the rackage FTP server at the time as well which will be gone when we get it. Seriously, easrlier on in the evening it was flawless.

ok, I see, but I am wondering what the purpose is of a test server if it does not reflect the actual required configuration.
March 8, 2008 at 11:36 am #65857XDC_WolfParticipantTo be fair, no other company would give us a test server, it really is a big favour for us. He had to convince some people to give us this paticular machine from what I could work out and I guess the FTP isn’t used alot normally. Anyway, it was better than multighey by absolutely miles, even when it did start to lag!
March 8, 2008 at 11:39 am #65858XDCiNSANEParticipantaye.. bonus is that we get REAL tech support n all 🙂
when we get our own unshared box, it should be sweet.. if not gonzo will sort it
March 8, 2008 at 12:27 pm #65859XDC_JARParticipantYes it was great even for a git like me from across the pond was actually killing max and dazzer so often they thought i was hacking lol 😳 😆 8) 😮
March 9, 2008 at 9:44 am #65860XDCOldPhartParticipantwe need to move the services off your box as the initial night was met with a fist full of lag from the FTP services running, nick for some strange reason has moved the cod4 to another single cpu box with nothing else running on it, i have no idea why as your ment to be testing the waters on the new box ???
anyway, punkbusters been acting a tit as there was no config file so i have turned pb off on that box until we get your new one free’d up.
i will let you know once everything is ready then you can start the trial again
(should be sometime next week)
March 9, 2008 at 10:56 am #65861GoNz0Participanti was given the “keys” to the box and slapped on the cod4, i assumed the FTP stuff had been moved off, but as our main mans off on his jollies this week the FTP wasn’t moved to its new home. once i found out it was an FTP box i tried swapping affinity to all 4 cores but that made matters worst, then the accountant had the bright idea to move you to a unused dual core rig totally throwing my plans for you to test the box out the window, wrong spec etc.
randles is back next week and will clean up the machine and hopefully put the new windows image on (lots of crap disabled)
then you can begin your test 🙂
and yes i wangled you a dual core dual cpu opteron rig as i intend to keep you as customers 😉
punkbusters bolloxed as per usual after an update, so were stuck all weekend until the dozy buggers fix the latest “fix”
i would look a little more into it but i would rather wait until your new rigs ready then i can get it setup and tested on the correct server, so i disabled punkbuster for now, once that was done everyone seemed to have a good few games, i heard lag a couple of times but that was down to a single person and doesnt reflect server performance if its 1 at a time.
i am not sure if it was pb up the spout again or the fact there was no pb config file so it could do wtf it wanted afaik :s
March 9, 2008 at 11:02 am #65862XDC_WolfParticipantTa muchly for your help Gonz, I have a shit connection, but it was mainly running smooth after the PB debacle last night. The odd thing was that it was only some being kicked and other snot, but god knows what that means!
March 9, 2008 at 11:05 am #65863GoNz0Participantthe pb init failed is when the clients pb service isnt started or read by the server.
could be down to the lack of pbsv.cfg as it doesnt set timeouts without it, hence the init failed and kicked as it couldnt get an answer within the required time.
March 10, 2008 at 8:03 am #65864XDCiNSANEParticipantlordy.. Quad core.. now thats what I call service
Cheers you hook nosed fooker! 🙂
