no the more expensive keyboards (especially the gaming ones) have more sensitive buttons, shorter distance to travel for it to register. macro buttons were in all honesty designed for MMO players where you bind a button to perform a series of actions.
i have an old keysonic keyboard nothing very fancy but its the one of the best keyboards i have ever used/tried. almost laptop like keys. thats why i suggest heading to pc world to try some out. i usually try out the new keyboards when i am at the Iseries events. the only one that i have liked has been the roccat one but its damn expensive. they have however just released a new one that doesnt have hundreds of macro keys and is as a result cheaper. dont know what its like to use though.
