Now technically this should be a little faster than the 970’s that they are selling for around the same price and some are 50 quid more. Also this card is DX 12 compat as well. This a good deal or am I missing something obvious as all the 780ti’s on the web seem to be a 100 quid more. I know it’s the reference build of the card but these things were proper fast.
The 780ti is a great card. Only reason the 970 comes close to it performance wise is because the 970 has a stock clock is 1050 compared to the TI’s 875. You should be able to up the clock speed on the reference card without issue though, EVGAs superclocked card with the reference cooler runs at 980mhz for example.
On the other hand, the 970 runs cooler, uses less power and has an extra GB of vram although there are reports of pretty bad stuttering if you use over 3.5GB.
Yes the 970 is the better deal IMO, plus its fully dx12 compatible and quieter.
Gary is right also, the 970 does have problems with over 3.5gb in some games, its due to the memory being split, it has 4gb but .5gb is slower than the rest.
Actually after much investigation and thread crawling I’ve decided to go for the 780ti basically because at the res I run at it’s a fair margin better than the 970, it’s also fully dx12 compat according to the NVidia guy I spoke to. Plus it’s cheaper and I can overclock it a lot as well.
