Have any of you used the HTC Vive? It is literally groundbreaking. I am considering purchasing the Business Edition for public rental – looking at some potential locations this weekend.

That gif is funny. I had and maybe still am considering picking one up but it’s always painful to be an early adopter. I think space is a big issue, the only place in my house where I could use it is my living room which means carting my PC down there or buying another capable machine to use down there.

I picked up a google cardboard to play around with VR, played around for a day or so, “though this is fun”, and then never really went back. I’d worry that I’d spend all that money on something I’d use very infrequently.

Hence why living in Canada is pretty awesome. The retail space I am looking at just $385/month… like less than 200 quid!

currently the games available are for me not big enough draws to justify forking out £700 for VR. the other aspsect as mentioned is space on the vive to make it a more immersive experience.

there are some games which i can see VR being a fantastic experience, mainly those where the player is in a static position within the game world. in a tank/aircraft/spaceship for example. which while i have elite its is about the only game i own that i can immediately see any merit for ahving it. and i cant spend that sort of money for 1 game or to find out if any of the other games in my collection that would work.

i really wish that Valve/HTC and the Rift has a lower price point. i understand the need to recover development costs etc but the price is not something many people can realistically drop on a piece of hardware. if the uptake of the hardware isnt enough i cant see game devs making games specifically for VR as the market wont be large enough to justify it.
