Participantello chaps 🙂
One or two might remember me, or might not lol, from the old 1942 days playing for a clan called =nCo=. Well since =nCo= bit the dust (another casualty of WoW) I’ve joined -=7th-DR=- and we’re all playing the jolly good romp they called Bad Company 2!
Really loving it at the minute, it’s the first game since BF:2 or maybe even 1942 that I can really get my teeth into.
Was just wondering if you guys would maybe be interested in a friendly at some point? Haven’t played in a clan match in years and just thought it’d be a good laugh! Nothing serious of course, no pixel shooting or base raping 😛 Just a couple of clans having a good laugh.
Reckon there’s any likelihood?

ParticipantId be up for that… been having a couple of games this morning, and really enjoying bits of it… will be much better with mates…
I just cant commit to any particular time… have a week long match, and I may be able to join for an hour or two!
March 11, 2010 at 12:14 pm #73869king_bob
ParticipantAye that’s likely to be a problem with our lot too Turks 😛
The only thing I thought was that we could try to give as much notice as possible to people and hope that as many as possible can turn out. Whoever turns up on the day plays. If worst comes to worst we can always add a couple of rats to the =XDC= team (or vice versa if it works out that way) to balance the teams up. I certainly wouldn’t complain about getting the chance to pop a couple of rounds into Winnie’s face 😆
I know that even with plenty of notice it’s still gonna be difficult for a lot of people but that’s just one of the inevitable downsides of having a real life 😉
Anyways I’ll keep popping back on here and if a few of you seem interested then we’ll see if we can come up with a date that suits as many as poss and plan it two or three weeks ahead to give people plenty of warning and give wives/gfs a bit of time to get used to the idea 😛

Participanti have to say that despite the much talked about problems i am enjoying this game 🙂
i love the destructible environment , you can run but you cant hide lol
the fiends lists do seem to be borked , at least last night they were.
ps there is talk over with the hussars of the possibility of a community big scrum type thing in the future

ParticipantAh that’s great news! 😀 Exactly the type of thing I was hoping to get sorted.
I’ve just subscribed over at the Hussars forum and will post once I’m confirmed 😀 I’ll also get a post up on our forums and get a better idea of who’s up for it.
Is it bad that I’m nearly peeing myself with excitement at the thought of this? 😯

ParticipantWell….. so far I’d say its a watered down version of BF, good, but missing some things that BF2/2042 had. Commander for one.
I hate the unlocks. They should have been restricted to a few weapon unlocks rather than extra rockets/bullets/body armour etc.
Too many snipers playing and not doing their role ie camping for points making f all difference.
If you get in a good server I’ve had some great games (conquest) with teamplay and everything 😯
Certainly the best console port I’ve played, and it makes MW2 look like the pile of shite that it was.

I’ve definitely experienced most of the probs you’ve had mate. Snipers, unfortunately, will always be snipers and it’s rare to find ones who are interested in anything but their own KDR. It may just be me, but I seem to find far more snipers playing in hardcore servers (where they can’t be ‘spotted’, rifles are one-shotters and rifles are the only weaps with crosshairs), so if you usually play on those then try some non-hardcore ones and see if it improves.
I think more than any of the others, this BF benefits from being online with friends. If I’m playing solo I can hardly stand to play it for more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time as there’s very little squadplay. At the minute though I’m putting a lot of that down to people concentrating on getting their unlocks. Once everyone’s ranked up I expect we’ll see an increase in the number of people trying harder to win games and working more as part of a team (at least I hope so!).
What I think it’s going to be though is a game that brings a lot of the old 1942/BF2 players back out of the woodwork and re-create a bit of that community feel there used to be. I think the game has the potential for longevity provided they keep patching it and keep releasing maps. I think the community will get on board with it and I think there’ll be some good custom maps and mods in the pipeline already.

ParticipantPersonally I think they have balanced the vehicles alot better then in BF2/42/230547436785438742, the lack of a machine gun for the driver of the tank, the lack of missile guided missiles all make for a more team based play (you need the gunners, no point going solo.)
The unlocks are annoying but an inevitable consequence of any new game in order to keep the interest to the medium/long term, personally I don’t mind, I unlocked a decent amount within a couple of hours and I’m sure there are many more to come.
The problems of the weekend seem to have been resolved on the main, although I have noticed EA online going down more than a few times and the cancelled friend list was a kick in the balls, but no biggy. Snipers can feck off, but at least the unlocks mean that most people will try a diverse range of classes and not stick to just one, and snipers can do a wonderfully useful job of spotting things, especially useful when you’re driving a tank with the slightly irritating washed out view.
Anyway, I’m enjoying the mechanics of the game and the looks of the game, but I am slightly disappointed by the slightly fubared online stability and the squad play, but to be honest that’s the same with most online games, the fun is in the communication and the joint experience. Problem is we’ve all been spoilt over the years by having a great group of people, both XDC and friends, to play with. Pity the poor buggers who play this exclusively on their own!

ParticipantTonight I will be mostly playing… this!
Will get on TS if anyone is around?
