February 28, 2007 at 9:34 pm #47373LensmanParticipantCan’t get the feckin’ thing to work. I need to bind it to a key – normally use backslash in TS, so trying to do the same.
Could hear Spunker (I think) when I joined the channel, but just could not transmit.
February 28, 2007 at 10:11 pm #47374Mr.FenixParticipant0. A fresh install of Ventrilo
1. Run it
2. Click on ‘->’ at far right of ‘User Name’
3. Click ‘New’ and create yourself a user entry.
3a. Mess around with the ‘Phonetic’ box and the ‘Play’ button until V pronounces your name properly. Phonetic means spelling like it sounds 😛
4. Click ‘OK’.5. Click on ‘->’ at far right of ‘Server’.
6. Click ‘New’ and create yourself a server entry.
7. ‘Hostname or IP’ = 85.236.100.19
8. ‘Port number’ = 20084
9. ‘Password’ =10. Click ‘OK’ The ‘User Name’ box now has your username and the ‘Server’ box contains the name you gave to the XDC server. Press ‘Connect’ and confirm it works so far. Then press ‘Disconnect’.
11. Click ‘Setup’ which is halfway down the right side of the main window.
12. Tick ‘Use Push-To-Talk Hotkey’.
13. Click in the white box labelled ‘Hotkey’. Do not panic.
14. Press the key or button you intend to use to activate the push-to-talk.
15. Note the volume control on the right: resist the temptation to max it out.
16. Click ‘OK’.ALL DONE. YOU ARE NOW L113B.

Not showing for me either at the moment. Can someone suggest a better host for the images? I’ve gone through about 4 of them now (from google) and just can’t be arsed trying anymore, as so far they don’t let me link anything more than a thumbnail here.

I don’t appear to be able to broadcast. I hit the key I’ve bound and there’s no indication that my voice is getting out.
Unless of course Spunker & Wipers were ignoring my “Testing, testing, 1, 1, 2, 1, 2” utterances 🙂
When I speak, should Ventrillo show something that indicates who is speaking? I.e,. Like TS does by highlighting the name of the speaker in the use list?

No m8 I didn’t – but then I might have been AFK, but you wouldn’t know that because nothing appears to show others you are AFK when you mute the microphone… Or am I missing something? 😕
March 1, 2007 at 9:23 am #47381Mr.FenixParticipantWhile you’re transmitting, the little red speaker glyph beside your name turns green.
Things to try: –
-2. Is the computer plugged-in?
-1. Have you tried turning it off and on?
0. You do have the v2.? d/l of Ventrilo?
1. Confirm the Hotkey is showing in the binding box in ‘Setup’.
2. Try another key.
3. Untick Push-To-Talk and try voice activated.
4. On the right hand side, fiddle with the DirectSound and sound driver drop-down.-Fenix out
