You probably need to enable the onboard graphics and take the card out.
Probably is the serial port then… perhaps it doesnt have onboard graphics…

Random question – If I shove an old geforce card in to my pc which now has an ati card (and drivers) on it… would it work?

My pc would not boot just like yours a few weeks ago… It was 1 ram chip desided to go tits up.
Just to check…surely if the ram is dodgy, nothing will show up on the screen at all, I would just get beeps from the mobo? (Check me out with this computer wizardry lark!)
nah, the bios only does a quick check
there is a setting to do a more advanced check in the bios, i think you disable the fast boot option. if you have 2 stick, remove one then the other, a knackerd viddy fan should be ok to get you on desktop, just not games.@GoNz0 wrote:

Even tried removing the sound and network card to see if they were at fault… its looking more and more like a graphics issue.
Ive been sent some silly stickers to stick on it and send it off… just dont know how long it will take ๐
on the plus side, I am selling my laptop for about รฦรโรยขรขโยฌร ยกรฦรขโฌลกรโรยฃ300, so might get an extra gig and a better GPU for it… would be great if its the gpu thats broken – would get a very cheap upgrade… I think!

Could I stick any old AGP graphics card in (from ATI), to get it to work (if ofcourse it is the graphics card that is the problem)…
