ParticipantTried to kickstart the server just after 9.30, had 6 guys from XDC trying to get it started and we didn’t have 1 unknown punters.
Shouldn’t be this hard to start it. 🙁

KeymasterAny theories why the server numbers went through the roof literally the moment we switched to grand bazaar this evening? Is it a more popular map or could it be that ea central servers give a higher priority to our setup after we complete a map?

Participantgawd knows, but we had some great games on it.
Time to start adding suggestions. 1st off, change it from a 2 round map to a 1 round. people get bored of 30 – 40 minutes of 1 map.

No need to justify it, I agree. I’ll change as soon as…..just not when the server’s full.

ParticipantGood to know it’s not just our server having problems with the server list.

KeymasterJust a quick update, I’ve set up a bank account so people can easily set up standing orders, or use internet banking to send through donations. So far 9 people have given a pledge to help support the server, which would work out as £13.55 each total for 6 months. That’s for the current cost of the server, but there’s been a request to increase our capacity to 40-48 players and I’m investigating how much this will increase our costs. It’s worth noting that the rackage price has increased since their pre release offers, and there is an £86 difference (up to £208.08) in what we paid for a 6 month 32 player and a 48 player server for the same period at current prices. If Gonzo can’t offer me the same rate we started at for an upgrade, this could potentially increase what we need from £13.55 each to £23.12 over 6 months – in other words, from £2.25 per month to £3.85 per month each (based on 9 donating equally).
Also as a final point, I’ve had some pm’s in response to this thread advising people are willing to contribute but they don’t yet know how much they can offer. I’m considering how best to manage this, as I’ll need to keep everyone updated regarding any shortfall, and while I could produce a list of donations like Pharty did in the past, I’m weighing up confidentiality vs transparency concerns before doing that. I suppose since the server’s already paid for over 6 months, we could wait until we need to renew, before calculating any surplus or shortfall.
Anyway, I’ll provide bank details once the account is active.

KeymasterWith regards to increasing our player count, I haven’t got any pricing information yet, but Gonzo says to leave it a week until they have their new hardware in. I’ll then go through it with him.
