surely in terms of online games that only work with CD keys then it should be the CD key that would break the law and not the CD itself? as the online game wont work without it
as I understand it… you buy the media on the format on which it is presented – so if you get a CD, converting it to mp3 is ilegal… as is converting a CD to a copied CD (as it it different from the onne on which it came…)
So i think it is ilegal!

What about owning VHS vids and converting them to DVD.. I’m sure thats not illegal to do.. My thoughts are that if you own the original, its yours to do what you want too with.. like backing up games.
I wouldnt have thought what McQ wants to do was illegal, all he is doing is making a copy of a disc to give to someone who lost theres.. Who I might add bought the game originally but lost it, no backup for badge.. if he has the original key, wheres the illegality of it..

Basically, the way the law works is that it is only legal to play the music/film etc on the medium you bought it, so ripping a cd with Itunes even for your own personal use is ilegal.
So is recording a mix tape for your lady… and so is (as I found out last night… rather too late)… having sex with a monkey
