Do we know how many people actually feel the way BF2 plays leads people into a playing style contrary to the spirit in which XDC was founded?

I suspect people have been voting with their feet for a while..look at the number of people playing BF2 regularly…not as many as I expected when I came back into the fold…And to be honest I know how Paddy feels to an extent…I suggested playing the 1918 mod the other day (it’s a laugh with a few players), as I was lagging badly on the XDC server and to be honest I just fancied a change…I was almost laughed off the server…

I looked at my BF2 stats yesterday…I was amazed to be over 20,000 points…I had lots of gold medals and things…unlocks…the works…and no, I still don’t have my fookin knife badge…but the last time I looked at my stats was in the second week of playing…about a year ago…I play for fun…period…Which is the whole point of XDC…Go read the XDC start page, I quoted it in the past and will do so again:

“There are people who spend nearly every waking minute at their computer playing games, and when we’re unfortunate enough to meet them in a game, all they seem interested in, is the game itself. Conversation is non-existent, and they will only find the game enjoyable if it is taken seriously by all participants! “

Ring any bells about Wolf’s complaint? It should…I have found myself alt tabbing to windows just to see if I was in the right TS channel sometimes, such are the lengthy periods of absolute silence on the BF2 channel…

Don’t get me wrong..I’m putting the blame on the way BF2 plays and the way it can lead people into stat whoring, not on individuals,but it’s unfair on Wolf to suggest he is in a minority…He may be in a minority within the players regularly playing (and by that I mean almost every day), but I suspect he isn’t when it comes to the XDC membership as a whole, and to be honest, there are plenty of people in this thread who agree with him to an extent, me amongst them…

I’m not surprised Wolf feels the way he does, he has the feeling people think he is a pain in the arse, he even stated he thought he was disliked by a few; kudos to the guys who jumped in and said he adds to the diversity…to those who answered his concerns with a deafening silence, well that silence speaks volumes to a sensitive soul like Wolfy…

Some of you may ask if I have the right to talk about XDC at all, seeing as I have only recently rejoined, but in all honesty, I remember exactly what it was like about 6 years ago, and I notice the changes probably more than people who have been in the process of gradual change over the years…I felt welcomed back by all the old members, and really enjoyed being on a server without the smacktards and with some decent team play, I honestly have no issues with any individual, you’ve all been great to me, and I admire the skill with which you BF2 vets kick my arse regularly on the server, but Wolfie is right, the “I don’t give a fuck” element is lacking a lot of the time,and yeah, Messy is partly responsible, and he’s not even in XDC…

Right..if I wasn’t away, I’d pop online now to get my arse kicked again, but it’ll have to wait till I get back…Only need my knife badge and I’ll be Supreme Commander or summat 😀

I’ve been only introduced to online gaming thru’ BF2, so I don’t have any frame of reference to how things were before.

I can remember coming on, chatting to guys like Wipers, Pharty, Max, Queeks et al, who made me feel welcome into the community, ending up in my being invited in.

Sure, there are problems with a lot of things wrong, but I cannot complain when I don’t know what the alternatives are, just that the games are getting a bit stale, and is that why the chat has gone?

How often do we play a Chinese map?

SF?

We’ve had choice, we’ve chosen not to use it, to stick with the crowd pleasers, that get our (great) server full.

Wolf is right, in that the community that used to run in us has gone, we’re like a old married couple, we don’t talk, ‘cos we don’t have to, we’ve been over the same ground again.

Even I can recognise this as something lost, to our detriment, I hope we get it back soon

It would be nice if we all installed either BFV or 42,no matter how shit it looks/plays and find a server and all play it for an hour or 2,i think it would be a blast 😀

I do recall me having alot more fun playing BFV it was a fookin reight laugh altho i do enjoy BF2 😛
