    Had this all last night.

As I couldn’t even get EA Link to connect let alone log in I couldn’t play at all.

Does anyone know if there is a way around this at all?

I still have my account folder from the old EA downloader backed up, if that’s of any use?

I had that message when EA link was first released. Major problems for me. There were problems yesterday with EA link (EA do maintainance every tuesday)

Try it again today and see what happens. I ended up downloading 2142 again (Twice!)

I was so frustrated I nearly went out to buy the DVD version

I hate the EA link software ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

As a red-blooded pork-yor-daughter hetero, it never crossed my mind to register with “ghEAy link” in the first place.

Now d’you see where you went wrong?

Yes this will no doubt be the last purchase I make via any sort of downloader, especialy anything from EA.

After the EA link coming back online last night I couldn’t even launch the game.

    Click/click shortcut …… nothing

    Click/click other shortcut ….. nothing

Remove additional commands from shortcut command line… click/click …..nothing

Try starting via Pace instead of Launcher ….. nothing..

Troll totalbf2142 support forums and look at possible fix, by converting exe file to run in win2k compatability mode.

So switch to win2k mode and game launches first time, then move on to next step.

    Exit game.

Switch compatability mode off and lauch game again, which it does this time.

I mean wtf is that all about??

As much as I love the actual game, this sort of shite drives me nuts ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

It’s probably a product of all the problems I had when they updated from the downloader to EA Link.

I had to go through the whole issue of editing my registry entry for my CD key etc.

I have another copy of the game installed on a friends spare PC and that hasn’t had any problems at all ๐Ÿ˜•

I haven’t played 2142 for over a week now, but I made an image of the disc and mounted it on a virtual drive so I can play if need be. I can mail you my original disc to ‘loan’ for the short term if you like.

Where did you get the virtual drive image from? My DVD player is acting up ๐Ÿ™

I bought Alcohol 120% years ago, but it’s only recently they did the Windows XP x64-bit update so I could use it on my current system. I then used the program to make an image then mount it on a virtual drive. Seriously it’s probably the best legal program of it’s kind out there (especially in combination wiht a Lite On drive) and was well worth the รƒฦ’ร†โ€™รƒยขรขโ€šยฌร…ยกรƒฦ’รขโ‚ฌลกรƒโ€šร‚ยฃ30.

I got a shitty 6gb hard drive off insane in 2004 though – I could bung the Image on there and mail you the HDD?
