Nothing lost except i’ll have to buy a new clone….but i now have the Badger i’d left at the clone station weeks ago

Brave of you to head out to OR by yourself Silver, good on you though 🙂 A few tips for for 0.0 survival might come in handy, and maybe others can help out with this.

First thing that comes to mind, considering your experience last night, is don’t autopilot, ever. Warp to 0 on every gate and jump manually. You’ll find this cuts out a lot of travel time as well as obviously saving you a few ships. You’ll be surprised how few roaming gangs actually bring an interdictor with them, and you’re only likely to find anchored bubbles on choke points such as the gate into 0.0 from empire. A ship on autopilot gives a gang with no dictor, 15 km of flight time to scramble and kill you, and since you’re most likely not paying attention you’ll die for sure. I rarely autopilot even in empire because of the time it saves.

Always pay attention to local. You should always have the local chat window separated from the rest of your chat windows and open so you can see who else is in system with you (I’ll post a ss of how my screen’s setup later as an example). Because you’re out there on your own you’ll have no standings set for anyone around you so everyone will appear as “neutral” for the moment, and you’ll be neutral to them. In 0.0 neutral is license to kill, so be careful when neutrals enter your system. Once you join a local corp you’ll start to see people with blue standings, who you’re safe around (assuming your corp keeps uptodate with their standings), and others with red standings who you should be especially aware of. You’ll still see neutrals as well, and treat these guys as if they were red. Sometimes you’ll be stuck with a load of twats who don’t allow you to shoot at neutrals, which is a hangover from earlier days in game, but I think it’s more or less obsolete in the game and almost everyone operates a nbsi policy (not blue, shoot it).

When you’re ratting, find an empty system until you’re friendly enough and have standings set with people to rat in the busier systems (usually the station systems in NPC space). Keep local open and always have one eye on it. If someone comes into system, warp to a safe spot and forget about that last wee bit of hull on the rat you’re shooting. A good scout will have you located in seconds and you don’t want to be losing ships over a rat worth a few hundred k. If you do ever lose your ship, and there is no bubble scrambling you, click on a stellar object such as a gate, planet or another asteroid belt, and spam the warp to button. There’s often a delay between your ship spinning out of control, and you appearing in your pod. This is only a delay on your own screen though, and the ppl shooting you will have that time to try and scramble your pod. Pods warp the instant they’re told to, so even if it looks as if you’re still in your ship keep hitting warp so as to save your pod.

God I’m bored this morning, I could go on but that’ll do for now, hope it helps someone 🙂

Yeah good tips Alzir and i do all of that…ussually 8)

Figured id get away with it being just in my pod and so no material worth, hehho. I think i did mention later i got caught in a bubble and lost that badger, 14 jumps and not a problem then got caught at the last system, argh bastards 😆

Must remember that just because they have a high standing dosn’t mean they wont shoot.

Pretty much the best rule to live by in 0.0 (and Eve in general tbh), trust no one 😈

i have been flying with wizzy for over 5 years and he still doesnt trust me :p

always treat everyone in 0.0 as hostile unless they are in your corporation (player not NPC) or alliance. if you suspect someone is going to attack you, either run or open fire first.

Well im surviving in 0.0 and loving the loot and bounties from the rats, ive found a relitivley quiet system that’ll be my cash cow for a little while, getting the loot out to empire is the only problem….and i have a question regarding that.

Bubbles, when your on the recieving end theyre bastards arnt they? 😆

Ohh the actual question is, other than what Alzir has already posted do you have tips on dodging bubbles, i bypass alot of them by warping from a safe point or random planet to 0 but the ones that catch me are on the other side of the jump, finding myself stuck with 4-6 pirates waiting for the cloak to wear off.

Now i know about MWD’s and cloaks but im not skilled in either yet, are they the only real solution other than taking the long route round? and would a MWD move a Industrial (badger I or II) fast enough to beat the pirate locks?

If you have been bubbled on the other side of the gate (after you have jumped) you will struggle to get away if they are in anyway competent pilots.

Best solution is either.. carrier jumps or you could train to use transports ships. Recently the smaller of the 2 transport ships got a boost so it can use covert ops cloaking devices. Jump through gate, do one spank of the mwd towards an object and whack the cloak on right away. This should give you the momentum to get out of the bubble and you can then warp away cloaked.

Also where you ratting? some good systems around OR 🙂

Not far from orivill (spel), still lots of skilling to do, i’m looking to do some pvp in 0.0 soon, i’ll buy a bunch of throw away frigs and see if i can find some action soon 😈 , the rats are boreing and easy to kill.

Cloaking is definetly on the list though transports will have to wait awhile.

Well this is interesting in light of what happened last night haha!

The little corp I am in are out this weekend with a little fleet of about ~ 10 small ships and a cloaked carrier as our base near by in the heart of the enemy amongst their carebears 🙂 They decide to bubble and camp a gate with BS’s and HAC’s we jump in and MWD away and get out no loses lol, obviously they thought aload of BS’s would come thru shortly!

So we play hit and run tactics pulling one or two of them away from the camp and pop them and run. This is good fun and gets us some kills.

Now we have a spy and were listening to their TS! and hear them talking about us and how they are going to stop us! The next set of events is classic and we got most of it recorded I believe:

This enemy is a pet of a bigger alliance. The bigger alliance is coming thru the pets space chasing a roaming gang which is enemy to everyone (us included and were in the system next door) The bigger alliance jumps in its Titan to doomsday the enemy roaming fleet, however the funniest thing is due to the delay in activation the enemy fleet got away and instead the bigger alliance doomsdayed its pets!!! all hell breaks lose on the pets TS with them going omfg wtf etc etc lol!!!!
This plays into our hands brilliantly as we have been keeping them in that system. So our FC broadcasts a message in local saying that the bigger alliance has given us and our alliance the whole constellen and that the pets have 24 hours to leave or the bigger alliance and us will blast them to bits and remove them by force!

Even more curses on TS as someone tells the rest about it. one guy “Dammit this games not worth this sort of stress, I need to go, back later” then they are planning to evac and trying to get a bigger alliance diplomat to speak to to find out what the hells going on.

This was hilarious to listen to on their TS and considering we were 10 small ships causing all this mayhem (along with the bigger alliances little mistake).

So while they all went quite we sat outside their station with 6 intyceptors while the 45 of them sat docked in their station. They stayed there and wouldnt come out for 4 hours!!
A few undocked and wanted to by podded so they couild pod jump out of the area, so we happily blew them up to send them on their way!

Now day 2, the seige continues!

    SPY! num nuts!

    So funny

We took our alliance as well as our corp up their today and stopped them dead for the whole day! and we didnt lose a single ship 😛 Killed aload of their Batteships and support ships which was cool. Oh and they had some kind of space cemetery that we blew up for fun lol.

Then they stayed docked up in their stations and wouldnt come out. 45 of them vs 25 of us.

So we left and another gang from a totally different alliance went past us and onto where these guys lived lol, but they had even bigger and heavier ships than us. and took out another 5 BS of theirs!

Finally we hacked their killboard and reduced their efficency from 60% or so down to 5% lol. Turns out their alliance is having a civil war and they are editing their kill mails to make their stats look good. so we returned the favour 😛

    Brilliant fun today!

Ive got a question about the subscription, how do YOU pay?

Now i know some of you rich ingame types probably earn enough isk to buy plexs but i just can’t atm, im hovering around the 100mil – 200mil isk mark because as soon as i earn it i find something shiney to spend it on, so thats not an option for me anytime soon.

Im not being a cheap bastd but with the shocking exchange rate atm and the fact m’ladie dosnt know this is a subscription mmo (something i’d rather she couldn’t hold over me 😉 ) i was wondering if there’s a cheaper way ie, buying plexes/ time codes from the web, or paying in dollas etc. I dont know.

At the moment im paying through the EVE site via a convulated paypal>paybycash>CCP and it’s costing me £15 a month, this sound about right?

Just wondering because the belt is being tightened.
