On my sons pc.
The game installs ok, and pass’s all the “info” stuff like: memory, ram and shit….he can create his login details and it connects to the Master server, but when he selects his login name and clicks select, it crashes back to desktop!
I,ve downloaded an updated graphics card driver and installed it, but its still doing it.
I,ve installed his copy of 2142 onto my laptop and it works fine.
Any ideas? 🙄

When i downloaded the driver, i just let ATi sort it out, have checked in device manager and it gives the new driver details so i assume it has been installed ok…..the game was CTD before i installed the driver.
System spec off the top of my head is something like:
3 gig ish chip, 700 odd of ram, radeon 9600 with loads of space on HD.
March 3, 2007 at 10:43 am #47651airmessyParticipantThe comp is to slow.
If you put another gig of ram in it you will be able to play. But i would put my money on the ram.
I have a similar pc setup but i have half a gig more ram, i have to play bf with everything turned down.

I hope you added the VAT on 😉

I’ve only a 1 gig of ram in this machine and can play with everything turned up as high as it goes, the chip’s worse than wheelsy’s as well.
March 4, 2007 at 8:45 am #47655LensmanParticipantMe too. I doubt it is the system specs.
Try killing off any extra background processes you have running. If you have a shed load of tray icons in the bottom right then you probably have more stuff running than you actually need.
March 4, 2007 at 8:53 am #47656wheelsParticipantCheers guys.
I must admit i run 2142 on both my main pc and my laptop with only a gig of ram, so im not sure thats the problem really….but i,ll tell my son to have a look to see what other programs are running in the background.
March 4, 2007 at 10:50 am #47657TurksMeisterParticipantIn the words of EA tech support… have you tried uninstall/reinstall?!

I thought you had an uber computer?
March 4, 2007 at 5:30 pm #47658AlzirKeymasterWell a year and a half ago it was quite good, still is I suppose, and certainly not bad for 200 notes 😉 but point is 2142 works just fine with a gig of ram.

Yep…this was one of the first things we did. 🙄
Im now thinking it could be down to the memory as i,ve checked the available Physical memory in the system info. and its only 421.77MB 😕
March 5, 2007 at 5:16 pm #47660XDC MadHippyParticipantSomeone in the thread mentioned ATI’d driver cleaner – work on many issues – I’d try that first
