Took a moment last night to browse the public platoons on Ceres for a change while playing as Vanu, and noticed a squad being run by none other than PilotYouRacist! I sent him a message and it was indeed the same guy who played BF3 with us, and infact almost joined XDC before he got bored with BF3 (I know Max, “burn him”). He’s part of an outfit on Ceres which is probably the biggest Vanu outfit on there, and said that any XDC would be welcome to join if we want to. I’m still in two minds about it, as I was initially impressed by the platoon’s organisation, but then witnessed a guy being “promoted” to the lofty rank of “member” by one of the outfit leaders, and felt a little queasy. That being said, at least 5 of us have Vanu characters on Ceres, and Vanu is also the easiest of the factions to learn for a BF player, and here’s a familiar face on the same side who we could at least link up with from time to time.

miller nc have never had any tactics that I know of and even the best outfits are really crap. squad and platoon play is essential to enjoy this game and the last two days on miller have been depressing.
April 19, 2014 at 1:15 pm #86324AlzirKeymasterActually I disagree, Miller NC on it’s day is pretty organised, especially compared to Woodman and Ceres. On it’s off days, and when outpopped NC do struggle in alerts there, but I’ve found command on miller to be the best of all the servers I play on.
Ceres must be the worst server for Vanu, and the outfits there rarely seem to even try at alerts, so I’m normally left frustrated. If you are lucky enough to hear someone talk on command channel on Ceres, it’s probably someone asking for help at allatum biolab during an Amerish alert. Miller is frustrating at times, but the TR are both really good there and have a massive population. It’s a good place to find some challenging fights.
Woodman is sort of in between the two for me, as TR has come on a bit lately and we hold our own against the vanu zerg a lot more often. Our outfit there is also pretty good.
There is a chance we could join up with 252 on Miller who don’t strike me as being too bad a bunch but it would mean abandoning the XDC tag here. We could move the XDC tag to Ceres though and focus on making a good outfit there, but I imagine you’d probably have to create a new character there, which I guess would be tough?
May 29, 2014 at 4:38 pm #86325AlzirKeymasterI’ve found my vanu outfit, so scratch that last idea….. i didn’t think there were good vanu players on ceres but i think, atm, that i was wrong. DHMR are the ones, and appear to be the ini elite of ceres, only smaller and playing as the weakest faction 🙂
June 21, 2014 at 10:11 am #86326XDC_WolfParticipantOn Monday I get hooked up to the internet and will be back, another three weeks and I’ll be on summer holidays so much more gaming for me!
June 22, 2014 at 1:31 am #86327AlzirKeymasterAhh good stuff Paddy, maybe you could add some extra pressure to Alex and help convince him to play Vanu more often 🙂 Ben and I put in a 5 hour session on VS tonight, and Chris was part of the squad for about 4 hours of that as well. Chris also has about 24 hours clocked on his connery account (I have about 8 – since I’m currently available during the day, and the connection is very playable), so clearly getting into the game. Bring your game face though because I’ve found a much better way for approaching XDC squads in this game. We’ve seriously been the first into seemingly impossible situations this last week, which we’ve more often than not turned around. Not always by ourselves but we’re often in there creating havoc for long enough that others decide it’s worth coming in to back us up and seal the deal 🙂
In short, you’re missing a lot of fun!
