Not a greatly detailed article this, but it’s interesting to hear they plan to allow player owned structures at some point, which I imagine will lead to kind of alliances we see in Eve right now, fighting over territories players have invested huge effort developing. We obviously don’t see this in beta right now, but interesting to know what they plan further down the line

eve has been out for almost 10 years and yet so few other companies have made an MMO with the design basis of eves PVP. and it amazes me because it is still the most complex, in depth and involving gameplay experience of any MMO and noone has made a success of using those features in a different environment (fantasy etc)
some have tried and failed but that is more down to the fact that they were so awful in every other aspect rather than using eve template. eve has had every player in the same server shooting each other, and yes at times the lag is awful, but i remember pvping when the game first came out and i was using 56k dial up and it was still playable in smaller engagements (although the number of players was signifgantly less than it is now)

time will tel how PS2 does but i hope it does really well and not cater to the fucking carebears! shoot them in the face and listen to them scream

I guess what planetside has over eve is the complete lack of carebearing. You earn resources through gameplay and all gameplay is pvp. The servers are smaller than eve but i’ve experienced no lag to date. It’s just a perpetual war.

An endearimg term for those who enjoy the grind in mmo’s, avoiding any player contact unless it involves maximising their prifits derived from said grind, unless of course that means fighting. Their profits are of course not put towards any interesting features in the game, and inly boost their grinding potential. The type of people who like watching th number in their wallet grow at the expense of exploring the actual game.

If you’re referring to my typos, I apologise. It’s hard to edit them out on my phone because scrolling is really fucked up on these forums….on android anyway.
