For anyone not privy to a discussion we’re having in private, we’re going to switch the server over to using Match settings and make an attempt to populate it again. I know we’ve not had much success doing this recently, but if we make a concerted effort, we might have more joy, and it would be much appreciated if others can help with it.
We’ll try using a 2 player starting limit, but it’ll probably be a waste of time unless we have at least 4 XDC working on this at one time, preferably more. I suggest then that once we hit that number on TS, we jump over, and get to work. If anyone else can help raise that initial number, please do.
Also can I suggest a few ground rules for doing this, such as avoiding vehicles until we hit maybe 10 players, and also trying to keep the teams as balanced as possible. I don’t think we should be too heavy handed on the vehicle rule, as it’s really just to keep things as competitive as possible during the early rounds, and some people (myself included) don’t pay much attention to chat in game so may not realise. Also on team balance, there’s nothing that turns people away quicker than seeing a stack of clan tags on one team and since random’s won’t realise just how crap we actually are, it seems to give people an excuse to rage quit if getting beat. I also suggest trying to keep squads on the same team balanced, so if you die and see someone on their own in a squad, why not join them and show them what it means to play the objective 🙂
During the week there’s little point making this effort after 10pm, and I’d suggest sticking between the hours of 6 – 9, so we’ll need as many of us online then to help with this. If you can help, please do 🙂 Going to look at other ways to advertise this effort, but this will do for the time being.
Actually these are not strictly match settings, but I’ve set it up fairly close. Important points, FF on, 3d spotting off, kill cam off, everything else as normal. We’ll call it match settings though 🙂
I’ll be on this tomorrow evening btw, I would have jumped on tonight but I finally got to see what all the fuss was about in planetside 2 and couldn’t let it go. Meant I had to have a late dinner and you’d finished playing by the time I was done.
Matt, more than happy to help out populating the server infact this is the sole reason I own this game, to have fun playing on our own server. However, the issue I have at the moment is due to not owning any of the expansion packs I can’t join.
Now, as you know, I’ve only just been able to actually play the game thanks to a new PC so the expansion pack will have to waiting until the end of this month. Unless there is a way round it?
I think there’s two problems 1) unless you have the expansions you cannot join and 2) we don’t appear in the server list
Good few games last night but not a single new player joined which would explain why from the points above

Nope. Cheapest way it to buy premium rather than all the expacs separate. There is a new expac out tomorrow also

Was gonna get premium anyway rather than individual packs as you say more cost effective but this won’t happen until end of month.

If there’s one thing dice royally fucked up it’s been battlelog server listings. The b2k issue kept us from putting those maps into any permanent rotation initially last year but I thought they fixed it, at least allowing people to join, up to the point a b2k map appears. They said at the time it was so people wouldn’t become frustrated by kicks, but i’m sure the motivation was to encourage more sales. Anyway I’ll take them off.
We must be showung on the server list though?
Aye, server appears in the list. I tried to join you all last night but was prompted to buy the Premium Pack and wouldn’t let me join the server. Ended up playing on server with Hippy in the end.
