Just played portal through to the end in one sitting.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Should I be worried that my wife got stuck on the 3rd level???
January 14, 2010 at 12:53 am #75274AlzirKeymasterwell she seems to work in the more important wife type areas so I guess you don’t need to worry too much.
As for Portal….told you 🙂

January 18, 2010 at 4:38 pm #75276xdc the docParticipantStayed up late last night to finish all the advanced portal maps…. arghhhh how evil is the first part of level 18!!!!!
Anyone tried importing user generated maps?
I have found this site…
http://www.portalgamemaps.com/
That has a good selection. I am downloading some of the top rated ones – but would be interested to hear any recommendations.
January 18, 2010 at 10:19 pm #75277xdc the docParticipantJust completed affinity – excellent map… uses portals in totally new ways. Stupid but well done ending. Test chamber 74 was a bit less well designed… but stil interesting.
January 19, 2010 at 1:27 pm #75278AlzirKeymaster😆 is there any ending that pleases you? I still can’t believe you criticised the games actual ending.
I’m going to have to reinstall portal now to try all these new maps. I went through a wee stage of trying all the bonus levels etc in the vanilla game, but I made the mistake one day of watching a youtube video showing how they’re really done. It scared me how good some people are at it, and I decided I couldn’t be arsed practicing up to their level and somehow this resulted in me giving up on the whole game :?, so I didn’t get around to trying the custom stuff. I’ll try a few of these maps though on your recommendation.
January 19, 2010 at 6:29 pm #75279xdc the docParticipantArghhh – watching youtube would ruin the game for me too. No matter how frustrating a level is you just have to work through it in your head… makes the accomplishment much better 🙂
When I say I didn’t like the ending…. it was the lame boss battle that annoyed me… I quite like the wee song that it finished with 🙂
Check out this BTW – aperture really exists as a company!

Try to LOGON password is PORTAL. You could also try typing THECAKEISALIE
January 30, 2010 at 5:12 pm #75280xdc the docParticipantRight…. just finished portal prelude last night. http://www.portalprelude.com/
This is a complete user made mod of 20 levels that has a proper story line and quite a few new features.
It is patchy…. the voices are all done with computer generated speech… and so sound absolutely ridiculous. The plot is not the best… but not bad.
Some of the puzzles are satisfying – but a lot depend on fast reflexes and precision aiming which is ok for leet gamers like me 🙄 but could really piss off some people who liked the more cerebral elements of the original.
It has quite possibly the most ill thought out/ annoying level ever created at number 19… just to warn you…. it is passable… but it will annoy the feck out of you.
So – in summary. Worth a look for portal fans… but flawed.
February 11, 2010 at 7:34 pm #75281xdc the docParticipantOk…. no idea if anyone is interested in this stuff but anyhooooo….
Now finished another full mod…. called the flash version.
http://portal.wecreatestuff.com/
There is also a cool sd game – which literally is the game as realised in flash… but thats another thing.
Anyway…. this mod is superb. Interesting levels, not frustrating (maybe a bit too easy) but very enjoyable. The boss ending is even better than the original (though they could have used better textures on the baddie… a small criticism.)
9/10 – if you haven’t played it… do it now!
February 11, 2010 at 8:42 pm #75282AlzirKeymasterActually I think the flash version was the original. Not sure, just something rings a bell about it from when the game was initially released.
