Main things to be aware of: –
– Some Sprocket owners have issues running it.
– It installs side-by-side with your release version of v1.05 in its own folder.
– No 3rd-party missions are guaranteed to behave as originally intended.
– You can run it and join v1.05 servers.Things it’s got: –
– [EDIT]Headshots are fixed 😈 w00t
– View distance improvements.
– AI improvements in all areas of behaviour. Like I wasn’t dying enough already.
– Performance is enhanced over v1.05.
– 1,000,000 other things. You can play it on my server.
I’m off for a game… somewhere…

I’m now running at 24-37fps, sometimes dipping to 17 for a second but not in the same way that happens in EA games…
In EA games, you lose fps when you need them, like those everyday situations where you (realistically 😆) charge into a room with 5 heavily-armed enemies and try to take their dogtags with your knife . Your fps takes a dive and surprise, surprise, they manage to kill you.
In Arma, your fps might dip when you spawn as all that lovely scenery is streamed and when you take off in an aircraft from a valley and the view opens up enormously. You’re always fine in the thick of the action.
In ArmA, some players get their lowest fps in woods and forests whilst others (like me) take a performance hit in urban settings. I was happy in urban combat with 17fps: it worked ok.
I’ve had games with server-glitches where everyone was on very low fps (e.g. 4fps or 7fps) for extended periods (until server restart). The lowest enjoyable fps is 15fps, I’d say. Lower than that and you can’t properly interact with the environment or the human/AI players in real-time. 15fps is enough to pwn if you’re any good and having 50fps won’t make any difference to the outcome.
ArmA rocks. Burning wreckage is noticeably more good-looking in the patch. I was playing a night mission and did it without NV goggles. I obvserved the way the light varied according to whether the the moon was behind clouds or not. The gunfire tracer and explosions and fires just get better and better.
FORGOT TO MENTION: headshots are FIXED. Proper stealth missions are go again. You too can take out a patrolling column of Especas one-by-one from the rear without anyone being the wiser. Background: patch v1.05 broke headshots which are silent kills so all headshots went to the chest and elicited a dying cry from the victim, thus alerting anyone within a significant radius.
