Yeah i used to get alot of ‘funnys’ from my dear old dad and also put it down to him being new to the technology that is the InterWorldWideNetWeb. After talking to him about the crap he was emailing me it turns out he didn’t read most of them and just automaticaly forwarded all the crap he recieved from his equally interwebnet noob friends, bless. The emails have now stopped. Result.

If its not reaching the PoST/Bios screen then its not the harddrive so no need to format, how could you format when there’s nowt on screen? 😉

As said it sounds more like memory/ cpu/ motherboard problem.

Try unplugging everything and add bit by bit, start with just the cpu, 1 stick of memory and use on-board graphics and see if you get a signal.

    goodluck

Well it is obviously a demo for TrackMania United the paid for game, a very impressive demo with alot of downloads and bordering on a game in its-self, if a few percent of those downloads go on to purchase the game then it’s a win.

For once the French have done good 😀

I loved Track Mania Nations and still have it installed on my PC but will get this too.

Also another game which I’ve been playing is Project-Torque http://project-torque.aeriagames.com” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; again completely free download and you earn upgrades and unlocks the more you racing buy earning RP points. You also have to earn Licences before you can unlock or use certain upgrades and cars but it’s really good fun.

You can buy specific cars through micro transaction that give you AP which you can also use to buys certain upgrades but essentially if you don’t want to spend and money you don’t have to.

I gawd i hatd that game, the most anyoying pile of steaming crap i’ve ever had the misfortune to attempt to play for an evening.
As i wrote on the Rats forum……..
This is the most annoying game ive ever tried….and not in a love/ hate way, it really got on my tits.

From the two hour update to the…
    registration and crap password limitations…
the menu buttons sound effect that made me feel like i was tapped on the head constaly…
    slow menu loads…
sitting in a race lobby for ages cos some cockbadger has gone afk and not clicked ready…

and thats all before we start racing, sure it takes time to learn tracks and a game but ffs, i quit the tutorial after a 1 min due to it trying to teach a 3 year old, i now what a god damn mini map is thanks.

and whats with the esc/ repair thing, dont put a fecking trackor trailer in the one position im going to end up and i wont need it.

and why can i hear birds tweeting, frogs croaking, and ducks doing whatever they do at 100mph? huh? huh?

and yes i did crash alot and come last, bastards

    /endeth rant

Each to their own though eh 😉

    *edit

Scrap that, realising there was no noticable air movement from the fan i removed the fan/ heatsink and the cpu popped out too , the heatsink was too hot to handle so i think the paste is still working, i did notice a major build up of fluff between the fan and the heatsink looking close-up and side-on which i han’t noticed from above. The fan has probably been sucking on years of fluffy matted dead skin and hair.

    Going to clean and retry

Depending on what OS you are running you could just try windows remote desktop, set this up via Control Panel-System-Remote on the media PC, and on the other PC run MSTSC from the run command
Or for programs I like http://www.realvnc.com” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;, they have a freeware version which works great

Ahh you posted whilst i typed.
I looked into Windows Remote Desktop first and found that i couldn’t run it fully due to not having XP Pro and so i had to go 3rd party, you’ve posted a link to another VNC dirivitive (spolling?) which i’ll look into if TightVNC goes tits up.

To remind myself and possibly help others who may have the same question at some point….

I stumbled across a program called TightVNC based on an open source VNC project (it’s free, which is always nice.) It’s not perfect but is quite functional and prevents the Stand-up/ Walk too second computer/ Sit-down/ CLICK…CLICK/ Stand-up/ Walk Back/ Sit-down it basically transmits the other desktop across the network but not the more advanced programs like games or video being played…ect….ect…. which is fine.
It’s free and it means i don’t have to move the drink/ cigs around, result!

A laugh of a 2 player LAN game wouldn’t go amis though, im actually thinking of installing BF1942 and knifing the GF on Gazla, would that me wrong?
