ParticipantDownloading the rfactor multiplayer demo now – didn’t realise there was one…
Netcode is important after all.
The thing about TOCA 3 is that it handles wonderfully on keyboard.
Mr.Fenix
Participantbut it makes a good avatar for him!

Make it so, admin.

ParticipantNew avatar:
Why is your bike impounded, legit? I didn’t realise written-off-in-a-crash equalled illegal parking.
Mr.Fenix
ParticipantOh, it was only the multiplayer that interested me…
I got a lot of CTDs until I dug down and found a Northbridge system-driver update. Even then, I had to turn off a bunch of detail. But it works now. The only netcode joke I’ve noticed on the demo is when in spectator mode, the cars just leap about like they’re all pimped-up.
I had maybe 10 races on games running off players’ own PC’s and it was fine to play.

ParticipantJeepers! Nail your door shut man! Safer online…
Ive mentioned my dad in another thread… He’s done his fair share of biking: out of 38 bikes he’s owned, 22 were written-off one way or another.
I reckon you might get higher stats than that hehe.

ParticipantI think I’ve found what I’m looking for: –
TOCA Race Driver 3
It kicks ass. Played single player demo, then the multiplay one. It has a different feel to all the others and the crash stuff is great. Last race, I limped along with steering pulling to the left and then before the last straight, I lost a tire (or maybe a wheel lol) and scraped home on three.
Lots of laughing, lots of fun.
Will prolly buy it this week.
vrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM!

ParticipantYeah, I knew that… 😳

ParticipantHmm, I’ve been playing computer games since 1980 and I haven’t noticed… brain thing, you know
..?
Neon – it’s affected, not effected. If you’re affected by a game, it’s the game’s effects that effected that effect or affectation. Clear? 😆

ParticipantWhen I was a nipper, my dad had a Mk1 Ford Transit like this: –
.
We were driving along one afternoon and ended up behind one of those cars which is a small van. This guy in the car/van was driving to annoy; he’d speed up, my dad would speed up; then he’d brake for no reason so my dad would slow down. This went on for a while.
In the end, dad said, ‘Everybody brace, we’re going to crash’. The car accelerated, we accelerated, the car braked, we accelerated right up its arse.
Everyone except the car/van driver had a right good laugh cos his car had been shortened by 10″. The doors, which had popped open on impact, now overlapped their frames and could not close. My dad and I had a 5 mile walk to a scrap yard for a replacement radiator.
I remember another crash in that transit – this one was actually an accident proper. It happened when we in the Transit and a guy in a Merc tried to use the same cross-road simultaneously. The front corners of the vehicles met; the left front wheel on the Transit rode up onto the Merc’s wing/bonnet. Everyone got out for a look. After a couple of minutes, the Merc collapsed under the weight and dad was able to reverse off.
Another time, when I was 4yrs old, I all but drove that Transit into a canal. Great times, great times.

ParticipantI’ll keep checking this thread cos I could really do with this kit myself. However, cos I’m going to France for Christmas I need to keep my finances fluid until the start of January.
[non-serious bit] Just checked my bank statement online… After debits for goatporn and goat-feed, I have a boiled sweet with fluff on it, an elastic band, a broken pen-knife and a length of string. Things ain’t that bad – I have six conkers and a catapult in my savings account. And my leftover-cheese investment is about to mature. Ker-CHING! [/non-serious bit]
