ParticipantPharty showing his lack of contemporary knowledge! you’re getting old there m8! The Streets are a band around Mike Street, a white Chav who uses a form of Rap to sing about his life and how shit it was and how great it is now, nothign like the “hip-hop” from America that you are thinking of, nothing to do with Bitches (except his actual dog is in a few videos) and Hos or bling m8.

ParticipantI’d love to take you all on in Trivial Pursuit, about the only game I have a chance at beating Max at, as long as we stay away from Trivial Pursuit Chav Edition!

ParticipantI an odd way, he is a contemporary poet, just doing what rebelious poets of old have done, used the English Language in a rhythmic and slightly naughty way, Chaucer did the same when he wrote the Canterbury Tales, he just didn’t put it to music.

ParticipantIt starts with a murder of some french guy and an American dude (Tom Hanks) is suspected, he meets the french guys daughter and they go on the run when they find a cryptic message and starts a quest for the “holy grail” and the truth behind the knight templars (a group of nights from the crusades who were apparently gaurdians of a secret so big it could bring down the Church) and they are pursued the police and a monk from a sect of the church called Opus Dei (opus dei are conservative mainly lay group who have a lot of sway in the Vatican, and they don’t have monks). Big chase, yadda yadda yadda, not going to say any more just in case you watch it and moan at me for ruining it.

ParticipantBTW, the wench who plays Gawd in Dogma was Bjork yes/no?
God in Dogma was played by Alanis Morrisette. Great film, Kevin Smith is a Catholic, and the film is a celebration of Catholicism, just wrapped up in his own unique way. I hold no truck with the people who are attacking Dan Brown, he’s just an author who wrote a popular book, but he did nick large chunks of it from other books and I didn’t think it was paticularly well written, Bernard Cornwell writes a much better historical fiction novel IMHO, as do countless other people.

ParticipantOne HUGE flaw of the book (of which there are many) is that Opus Dei don’t have monks, the are majority lay oragnisation with a few priests. My uncle is an Opus Dei priest and he’s been trying to get me involved for years, but it’s a bit too much for me.
The books a pile of crap which people actually beleive (i irritates me as I get asked questions about it along the lines of “well Dan Brown has all this evidence…”.) Dan Browns a clever fool in that what he wrote is utter crap but he wrote it in such a way as to plant seeds of doubt in the minds of a generation who are accostomed to conspiracy theories.
I am in a dillema as Audrey Tatou is in the film, and she is one of the most attractive women to ever have existed IMHO and I really wat to see her n it, but I guess I’ll skip it.
