My sky comes into the front room where the existing TV is sited and where it will remain.
The switch i picked out there was the first thing i found that i could use to explain my ideas, i have no knowledge of what would be good/bad, the problem is i’m trying to do this within a sensible budget. I don’t think i’ll be doing much streaming to and from various sources but i know i will need the internet at certain points where wifi just won’t be beneficial.

Are the consoles any good as media streaming devices, if so which one is better ? Would i be better off giving consideration to a dedicated streaming unit like the mede8er – http://www.mede8er.eu/ ?
I’d love to be online playing some games but my main gaming rig is A) old and B) dead (well it turns on but then the screen goes black and it becomes unresponsive) and my other pc is too old (athlon xp2200), i’m currently using my laptop which is just about capable of running medal of honour or possibly BF1942 as it has an nvidia GEforce go7300 gpu (no idea if it’s good or not) and a duo T5500 CPU!!!
I’m having some building work done over the next few months, including a rear extension and a complete makeover of the house so won’t have much time to play games as i’m in the process of stripping all the walls and boxing away anything that may get in the way; including pc’s etc.
Once that is completed i intend to get a new pc as part of my 40th birthday present (November 23rd for anyone interested in making a donation ;)) and hopefully get myself online to have a game with the old crew.

lol, you’re right i’m not currently playing any games dues to pc dying a death and i’m not suggesting that pc gaming is dead, just wanted to get a feel for how many on here are now more inclined to play on consoles over pc’s.
Once the builders have finished here (hopefully due to start soon) i’ll be buying myself a new pc and possibly an xbox. My conundrum is do i buy a reasonably heavy duty pc to play the latest titles (with me it will be BFBC2 and BF3) and have the 360 as a media/gaming centre or do i get myself a decent pc to do photo/video editing and an xbox for gaming ?
If the majority of the guys on here are gaming on an xbox then it would make sense for me to move over to that platform so that i can continue to enjoy the banter i used to have when we all played the same game.
I may just end up getting a kick arse pc then 6 months down the line getting myself an xbox so that i have all avenues covered! 😉
