I will be good from now on. Not only because Pharty has spurned all my advances 😥
…which only goes to prove my last point 😉

ParticipantI think Phart’s shopping list simply proves conclusively that he is, in fact, homosexual. No real man would ponce about so much with labels.
I read his post on what he wears, and all that popped into my head was “Will & Grace”…. 😛

For that pile of stripey crap? It looks just like my old school tie – £9.99 from any good school outfitters in Lancaster (where I was teached, like).

I asked Vic about one of these, him being the great Know-fuck-all-about-everything and he says a sonic device wouldn’t work 🙁
Reminds me of my parents house. For months their back garden kept being dug up by a badger, driving my Dad mad. So he shelled out and bought a sonic scarer for badgers, and then watched one night as it just trotted by it, ignored the thing, and carried on digging.
“Must the the only fucking deaf badger in the town!!”, muttered my Dad.

ParticipantIsn’t it Max before he shaved and posed for the photo with his Wii in The Sun?
He/She/whatever has that same twinkle in the eye….. 😆

ParticipantI use a local outfit called Griffin Internet. Pretty pricey – £28 for 1Mb line. “Ripoff!!” “Sucker!!” I hear you cry.
Well, perhaps, but I stick with them for a few reasons:
-
Very low contention ratio (max 5-1), so I get 1Mb ALL the time.
No limits at all
No sliding windows of availability – many ISP’s cap speeds at peak periods. Fucks up evening gaming big time….
I work from home, and reliability is an absolute must-have. As well as their tech support being good & free, if necessary I can drive to their office a few miles away and smack heads.
No contractual tie-in. I can shift at just one months notice if I need to.
Can’t get more than 2Mb on my telephone line anyway. So for me I’m paying for reliability and good responsive support. I had two years of shit with Tiscali and hunted around a lot before choosing Griffin.

ParticipantAs you go through security checks on the way into the terminal, laptop users are normally asked to turn their computers on.
Go on – I dare you to have that set to play as soon as you open the lid….

ParticipantBTW, just heard a story on Radio 5 that scientists have discovered the bit of the brain that causes cravings when giving up things like cigarettes. Apparently those people who have suffered damage to that area find it much much easier to give up fags.
So there’s two conclusions:
1. It really is mind over matter – it’s all in the brain.
2. Get someone to kick you in the head to damage the offending part when the cravings become too bad.Lensman
ParticipantGood one mate. I remember similar thoughts also after a few days. Trust me, it gets easier, and these kind of days less frequent.
Keep going.

I’ll try that on the way to work tomorrow, just wondering who will post bail for me though ?
You won’t need it – 4 cops will chase you through the station and blow your head off……

ParticipantI don’t know how anyone could make the connection between “McDonalds” and “food” anyway.
Cardboard junk. Steer clear of the shit.

ParticipantI recently brougt my wife a Lenovo from Dabs – it’s the model that is currently on the PCPro A-list.
Details: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/labs/92084/lenovo-3000-n100.html
Cost less than £500 from Dabs. Bluetooth & Wifi – unusual at this price. BT needed for my wife’s PDA – she’s got even more gadgets than me.
Screen is very good for this price. Res reasonable.
I only got 512Mb, but she’s never going to play a game on it and that’s fine for web, MS-Office stuff, picture & DVD viewing etc. Got an integrated webcam too, which is kind of cool.
It’s a really solid piece of kit and she’s well pleased with it.

ParticipantI gave up about 10 years ago now – best thing I did. I used gum for perhaps the first week to just take the edge off.
In the early days its all about setting small targets. “I won’t smoke for another 2 hours”. And at the end of that, thinking “I won’t waste the last 2 hours by having a smoke now. Lets go another couple of hours”. Soon you are at the end of day 1, no fag. Day 2 starts with “I won’t waste yesterday – no smoke for 3 hours”. At the end of 3 hours “I won’t waste 1 day and 3 hours”.
Pretty soon you get to the stage of not wanting to waste several days of being smoke free, and so your targets get longer, and the cravings get less.
Where I used the gum was at the end of one of the target points when I really really wanted a smoke. It doesn’t remove the need completely, but takes the edge off bigtime.
So don’t think about smoking never again – just think of small steps and be strong enough to not waste previous hours and days by giving in and just having a quick one. The “never again” takes care of itself.
Tip to keep you focussed – When you get 5 minutes, add up what you spend in a day, a week, a month. Think of that same amount per month off your car/mortgage/whatever. Maybe add up what you think you have spent in the last year on fags – it’ll be scary, and would probably get you a large chunk of that big flat screen telly you’ve been hankering after.
I won’t wish you good luck, as there is no luck involved at all in giving up the fags.
(Think I should become a “Life Coach” ? 8) )

ParticipantHi Tom/Marv – nice to see you are still about.
Cheers.
