Last night I spent some time with the G3A3 with the heavy barrel, ACOG sight and fore-grip. Now this weapon is a real marmite rifle, as while it has the highest damage of all the assault weapons it also has some serious vertical climb and a very slow rate of fire. I usually use either the M16 with laser sight and heavy barrel or the AKE with a similar set-up but noticed my accuracy and distance kills were suffering due to my excitability when spotting an enemy.

When I used the G3A3 it forced me to slow my whole medium to long distance game down quite a bit, and because accuracy is not really where I score points, it allowed me to make kills where I’d normally spray around the enemy.

The other downside is the 20 clip mag, but I personally have a habit of changing mags after every contact so it’s not so much of an issue.

The G3A3 has been criticised for its ability at close quarters, and I would agree that it’s not as capable due to slow rate of fire as some weapons, but if you get (in hardcore) 3-4 rounds centre mass your opponent is going down. I tried coupling it with an underslung shotgun for close range clearing and it worked very well indeed.

At distance this weapon is unrivalled outside the sniper rifles (In real world the PSG-1 is basically a modded G3A3) I played a round on normal mode with the CwG guys and could’t believe the kills I was making. I’m sticking with this for a wee while, and see how it gets on.

To unlock you need a bloody HUGE co-op score, but it well worth it if you play any ground class on the larger maps like Caspian etc..

Great videos. Getting my juices going for some more BF3, no fecker is ever on these days? C’mon, I’ll even play gay-core!

    Traitor!

There are some enlightened souls that know that playing an FPS with FF on is gayer than Julian Clary’s sweaty crotch. Just get a HC game going.

    I’ve changed man! 😯

Ach, working tonight and tomorrow. I log on most nights after 11pm only ever see Doc and (occasionally) Paddy on. I’ll try on Sunday at a sensible time.

Oh and as for a meet up, anyone fancy another one over the edinburgh festival this year? We promise to bring Doc who’ll tell the comedians, straight faced, how he met you all online playing battlefield 😆

That was fucking hysterical. The guy hit gold and he didn’t even know what to say about it he was that shocked.

The comedian should have been fucking shot for not saying anything. (I wasn’t there, but heard the story!)

I wasn’t sure, but the ITV coverage seemed to think he was.

Fuck no, but Doc drinks Gn’T’s in public, so the gay element was certainly there.

We had the XDC Scottish meet up tonight. Consisted of Matt, Doc and myself in a pub for an hour arguing. Excellent stuff.

that is an outrageous statement you made there ben with no proof to back it up.

Which statement? That the guy should invest his own cash if he believes enough in his product? Damn right he should. I don’t buy the picture of some highly talented poor wee lads who need a hand up the ladder. The writer guy is a best selling author with 13 novels, and 11 non-fiction publications. Every corporation began as a start up, every successful company has had at some time had to take financial risk to grow and (granted) through some kind of investment whether it be internally or otherwise. BUT! crowd funding is fine if there is an ongoing share of the company, not a copy of (and I’m making a presumption here) a poxy sword game. It’s lazy business shrouded in some kind of “cool” social togetherness. If you want to go and eat some tofu, do some meditation, hold hands singing kumbya and bask in the glory of your Shwonging game, thats fine, I’ll stick to meat eating, chest beating capitalism.

im still not entirely certain about the whole kickstarter stuff. it feels like getting people to invest in a program and not get anything in return. i can understand from the perspective that some projects dont get funded by major publishers but there is usually a good reason for this. secondly, lots of the studios dont seem to put their money where their mouth is. some do but very few.

maybe im just a miserable cynical (cheap) sod but i cant see myself giving any of these people money.

No, your not being miserable at all. They are looking to make a commercial product and as such any investment should be rewarded with a share of the company.

I like your use of the word “Swonging”, but I’ll pass. If he feels that passionately about the project and truly believes there’s a market out there he’d put up the 500k himself like every other business person. Cheeky shite actually.

Have to say I agree with Paddy. They could be fun with a few mates like 4 v 4, but too cartoony for my liking.

Last night I felt feeble, weak, and generally a lesser person due to being non-premium. I bought today – Feeling better now.

I agree with WET, and I get what your saying. I’d even say I was guilty of it myself, the simple fact is despite the graphics sound and realism, the game play is just not deep enough to have the longevity of some of the older games, I think you can thank the cross platform nature of games for that, and the cynic inside me thinks it may be deliberate to make games a little shallow so the next years title makes the money. OR! maybe we’re all desensitised to quality FPS games, I remember the first time I saw counter-strike, I thought it was the most amazing thing ever… I look at it today and it looks and plays pish. Dunno, I’m feeling philosophical tonight. 💡
