Yep, I too, can vouch for space chem. I went and bought the full version, the levels get insanely difficult after the demo runs out and I’ve yet to complete it. Well worth the £6 of whatever I paid for it though.

I don’t remember it either, or at least not so obvious. Must try a game tonight to check.

It has been a while since I’ve claimed your tags in bfbc2, I shall help you test 😀

That mechanic was in bfbc2 as well.

I’ve not even looked at the forums mate, got the KB mostly working and haven’t had much time over and above that. I’ll give it a look over the weekend and poop out a BF3 section to start with.

I’ve actually been researching a PC upgrade recently, as I’m gonna pick up a gaming PC for my sons christmas. I want it to be capable of running all games, at full graphics on a decent res (around 1680×1050)

I’ve been looking at a full setup for around £250-300 that will be capable of running bf3, it includes 2nd hand parts and getting good deals on auctions, but it’s fully worth it if you’re thinking of going that way.

Just a thought, as the PC versions will be fucking outstanding, and we’ll have an XDC server too 😀

    I too was there…

Anyway, as Matt said, the biggest draw of this game is the pvp. In MMORPGs such as warcraft, when you die, you maybe lose a bit of money, but nothing major. When you die in eve, you lose your ship, some of which are expensive. This really lends itself to very very tense combat and always gives you an adrenaline rush when engaging another player.

It’s hard to describe the game, it’s the most complex game I’ve ever played and has depth like no other. I don’t want to say too much to dilute what Matt has already said, but you won’t find a more thrilling combat system on any other platform.

I signed up to a few sites to try and get one, ea newsletter, their vet program etc. Where did you sign up for one and what makes you think you got one?

The alpha is over in 2 days 😕

Actually that’s a good question…are there ships in game?

The level on the alpha only has a single vehicle, it’s an armored vehicle, but not a tank if that makes sense. Kind of an APC with a gunner at top and a gunner at each side, shooting through little slots. It’s a lot like a bfbc2 vehicle who’s name escapes me.

    Also, prone is nice 🙂

I hate you…however when i stab you in the face it’ll feel a whole lot more satisfying now I know you’ve played since alpha 😉

I actually nearly got my first set of dogtags last night. I flanked the enemy and was behind someone for about 15 seconds trying to work out which key was to knife (it’s now “f” btw) I got shot before I worked it out though 🙁

Hehe, I guess the “playing since alpha” will be a curse. only spent about 2-3 hours on it, might get a little more done this week, but I believe it’s only open for 7 days, 3 of which have passed already.

I’m still shocked that people are running around at high levels, seen a level 25 last night and that’s after 2 days, they must have spent some ammount of time on it already.

Good for you stalker pleased you got in.

Just out of interest, which site did you apply to get access?

I didn’t apply on any site Lammie, I just got a random e-mail through from EA saying I had a key for it. I’ve had an ea account for years and have bought several products through it.

Played some more of it last night, the squad system does “function” but is buggy as hell. It is a little different from bfbc2, squad commanders are back and you can only spawn on squad commander. The squad commander however can spawn on any other squad members.

There seems to be no way to pick a squad commander, just seeems to be luck if it works or not.

Well, all I can say is…

    IT IS FUCKING AWESOME

Honestly, the graphics are great, really smooth. The animations and the feel of your character moving over terrain is just right. The shooting is also pretty good, will take a while to get to grips with it and I’ve only tried a few guns.

The ability to spawn on a squad member is currently missing (or I don’t know how to do it) which means the defending side is losing constantly, long runs to combat, but it’s alpha.

It’s the multiplayer alpha, with a single map, which starts out over a public park in the middle of an American looking city, then leads down into subway tunnels, the attention to detail is awesome.

The suppression system works pretty well as well, when you get shot at (or stand near firing vehicles) your HUD has slowing and blurring effects on it much like when you’re being shot in bfbc2.

If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask, not allowed to post screens apparantly or vids though.
