ParticipantWell I know that Kevin Smith got death threats when he was making Dogma, so I’m not surprised that the christian church have kicked up a stink. What gets me is that you get a film like Dogma or one like this Da Vinci Code that point out some interesting stuff about christianity and the church slay it and drag its name through the mud.
Then we hear that the numbers of people going to church is steadily diminishing and the church pay all the PR guru’s to come up with (let’s be honest) crap ways to promote their religion.
A number of films that I watched which made me want to read more about what really happened were Black Hawk Down, From Hell and the Elephant Man. I just don’t see why the church don’t try and cash in in the same way, trading on the popularity of movies like the Da Vinci Code to get people into church.

That would work but you then have the potentially disastrous situation that you’ll be sat in the pub one day and a group of real ninjas will saunter in and start pushing around the locals, feeling the barmaids arse and generally looking to start a ruck. Of course, everyone is then gonna expect you to give ’em all some hand cannon. Good luck with that.
Hmm… To be honest, in all my years of phoney ninja assault scams that situation hasn’t arrisen, but I don’t go out as much as I used to. It’s certainly a risk though.
Okay Turks, new idea:
Same plan, but Oompah Loompahs and not ninjas.

ParticipantI think that the Urban maps are popular because you are always in the thick of the action. With some of the others (Oman springs to mind) if you respawn at a location far from the action and you’ve no transport then it’s a slog to find anybody to fight. Sharky or Karky don’t have that problem.
Reducing the map sizes to 16 player seems to solve a lot of these issues and remove the problems with ace pilots spoiling the fun.

ParticipantIf the rest of your flatmates think he’s a ‘tard then surely they’ll take your side, the side of reason, over his? Or:
Pay some of your mates to dress up as ninjas and get them to break into your house. They then pretend to let you beat them up, and run away, pretending to cry.
Soon the story will spread that Turks beat up* half a dozen ninjas and made them cry, making you hardest guy any of your associates know. You will then be free to throw your weight around and intimidate your flatmate.
*For this to work it is vitally important that you become well known for beating UP half a dozen ninjas, and not beating OFF half a dozen ninjas.

Just wait until he’s out in his best red jumper and then shout at the hardest looking bloke (when he’s not looking of course) “Oi, soft cunt, do you like my red jumper?†and then just fade slowly into the background.
That was you? You bastard! I was in intensive care for 3 weeks!
You’ll never get me like that again though, I’ve never worn a red jumper since. I ONLY wear bright pink jumpers these days.

You wait ’til he eats some Daz washing powder; he’s like a frickin’ berserker teddy bear. Last time they had to use whale tranquilisers and a harpoon gun to take him down, after he went ballistic in the town hall and attacked the mayor.

ParticipantI thought that Operation: SmokeScreen and Great Wall were pretty good maps. I like fighting in all the thick smoke with tanks and helicopters looming out of it.
The one with the quarry is a bit of a ‘Kubra Dam’ IMHO, but it might be good as a 16 player map. I like that the XDC server does the 16 player thing on some maps as it adds to the variety.
Stick the Euro Forces maps on the server to kick in at about 19:30 tonight and maybe run Great Wall and Smokescreen through twice each, just to see the reaction. If everyone buggers off then change it back to vanilla.

ParticipantEeek thats like one map every 3-4 hours!!
Think the ‘evening of it’ is a better idea.
I think you’re right. All or nothing. I’ll start another thread about Euro Forces with the list of the people who’ve got it.

ParticipantIs this the guy who came home in tears last night wanting to “nut someone?”
Sounds like he’s got problems of his own. Is he this much of a spaz with everyone? From what I know of you Turks you seem like a rather easy going guy, and knobs like your flatmate can only exist around easy going people because otherwise they get the crap beaten out of them.
You want to freak him out? Why not start coming onto him. Get drunk one night and start talking about how much you love him etc. Start buying tubs of vaseline and put some tic tacs in a bottle marked ‘rohypnol’ where he can clearly see them.
It’s a sure fire way to get him to leave.
Unless he actually confesses to loving you. That might be a problem 😕

ParticipantYet again Wipers is the voice of reason. Giving it a trial (maybe with only Great Wall) is a good idea, and something we could just try running once or twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays maybe?)
Judging by the number of folks here who’ve purchased both expansions so far, I’d say it’s a fairly safe bet that a number of the regulars have too. Any idea though how often one of the Euro maps should come around in rotation? 1 Euro to every 4 Vanilla?

ParticipantOld Phart, YOU might want to get inside the mind of Max (and to a lesser extent Wiper’s) but that’s a place I’d rather not go.

Mr Neon… Could we have the list in alphabetical order please?
For no particular reason 🙂
Mr Turks, you are indeed a scallywag. However you seemingly pointless post of cheekiness has reminded me what the topic was and that was ‘who has what addon?’
It looks live the vast majority of the regular BF2 players have both Spezul Forzuz and also Euro Farce. Obviously we’d have to have SF nights on the server to play it, but can anyone put forward a decent argument why we shouldn’t put the Euro Force maps in circulation?
