KeymasterDownloaded FH2.2 yesterday and gave it a go, but it’s unplayable. Apart from taking 6 years to load a map, my computer still sounds like it’s loading for about 5 minutes into the map, during which time I can’t move, and eventually I’m kicked by pb due to timing out. I’m reformatting today, but I’m not really expecting the kind of dramatic improvement I would need in order to play this 🙁
Vanilla BF2’s no bother though.

KeymasterSo much for that then…

KeymasterApologies to John and Jonny, there was a fault with my internet just before we were about to start this last night, and it wasn’t resolved until this morning. Earlier in the evening we didn’t have enough people for the session we had hoped for, but we did manage to figure out a solution to the problem of hosting this online, and connecting to each other. It’s a 5 minute job which I can explain easily to anyone when we’re about to have a game.
I’m off all this week so if anyone fancies a game of this later tonight, give me a shout on IRC or TS. I’ve already arranged to hook up with John after his work, but the more the merrier.

KeymasterOh Homeworld, that takes me back 🙂 Might download it myself actually because my disk is somewhere at home.
I’ve sent you a pm.

The 747 map is mint
Oh god the memories. 747 was never really one of my favourites though, Chalet, Sib 1, and docks were the really awesome ones I remember…the met too with enough people 🙂 I really hope people turn up tomorrow, I’m itching for a game now!
Oh and Neil, Saj might turn up tomorrow night as well if you remember him. He was the guinnea pig when testing the vista fix 🙂

Keymasterhmm odd, it worked for me, but maybe it’s still seeing me as logged in somehow. New link up.

KeymasterTooth kindly found a browser app people can use to connect to quakenet, although it’s limited in that you can’t truely verify who someone is. We’ll just have to hope people like Legit don’t get hold of it and start being dicks, but anyway the link is below:
It’s not as polished as the mIRC client, and is limited in some of it’s functions (eg I haven’t found a way to share files using it yet), but it’s much more user friendly for those who find mIRC too confusing.
Anyway, where the app asks for channel, type in #xdc, and where is says Nickname, try and use what you have on the forums. I’ll see if there’s a way to automate this, and perhaps link it to someone’s forum profile, but that feels like a big job, so may take me a while to get around to it.

KeymasterVista fix for Rogue Spear:

The links were broken on this when we first searched for it, but I asked the guy who owns the site and he’s obliged by putting it back up 🙂 It works too accoridng to Saj, who’ll hopefully be joining us tomorrow evening.

KeymasterWe’re going to attempt this Rogue Spear night again this Sunday after dinnertime, so if you fancy a game, be on TS from about 7pm.

Someone was discussing it on another forum I use, and the verdict is that it’s a decent setup
Requires that you have a monitor and peripherals already.

KeymasterManaged to get out to see this at last, and I’ve got to say it’s great going to see a film you know absolutely nothing about. Very good film.

KeymasterI’m going to have a go at updating this again, but last time I tried to do this I gave up because I actually needed quite a bit of help, as the amount of research I was going to have to do put me right off. When I wrote up the original summary above I used the old news archive from the original XDC website as a point of reference, as this used to be updated a couple of times a month. Ever since we’ve had a decent forum though, I’ve not bothered too much with a news page, so I was wondering if I could have some help piecing together bits and pieces from the past, such as key dates and events? Obviously some highlights will include the BF leagues we were involved in, and discovering various games over the years, and low points such as Mugs’ passing back in January, but other suggestions would be very welcome. Also if you think someone deserves special mention, let me know, as I’ll be mostly writing this from my own point of view, and there are a few times over the last decade when I’ve gone awol for a few months, so I’ll not be able to give credit to, or mention, everyone by myself.

KeymasterNever said I don’t like consoles, I just can’t afford one. Consoles are definitely the way forward for football games, although I struggle to think for what else.
