ParticipantFortunately I have suffered any of this lag due to the CTD feature which ensures I only have 5mins of play at a time
Sod this buggy game and all it’s offspring !

you Sir need RO 😀
Would it be Xbox 360 Fooseball?
Nope, PC Pro Evo, and it is GOOOOOOOD !!
RO – now that might just happen, sick of the BF2142 CTD feature I can’t see to turn off

err you on wireless bud?
all the problems you are having I now have after installing wirleless this weekend.
your CTDs could be repaired by visit0ring the punkbuster update site.
your ‘Error’ when attempting to connect to a server is releated to internet conncection – I get it all the time now.
I have been on wireless for about 2 years now, never had any issues with BF2
I’ve already updated Punkbuster manually, even after reinstall number 4
But it is good to see others are also getting very random and bizarre crashes and CTD.
Fortunately, I received pro evo 6 today, so I reckon I’ll try to lay off the Beta BF2142 and wait till they’ve released the next patch.
Honestly I can’t take it waiting 6 mins for the game to load, selecting the server, the map loading, me selecting a spawn point, and then for it to CTD after 2 mins play.XDC Dutchman
ParticipantThanks Hippy, don’t think it’s made any difference, I ran that and reinstalled again.
Have had about 20mins on the server, followed by about 30 mins trying to get back on the server with various issues, and then about 5mins of playing again and another CTD when pressing F2 to switch to the gunner in the jeep thingyXDC Dutchman

did you have the beta or demo installed?
Damnit, yes, I clean forgot about that. What do u suggest, uninstall both demo and normal bf2142, then just reinstall normal BF2142 again ?
Must admit I actually got about 30mins of continous play last night before I got another CTD, but would still like about an hour or more at least !

ParticipantWell, not sure what card you have, but on my Creative audigy music, I open up the creative volume control:
Then I go to the EAX button and in there you can turn eax off:
XDC Dutchman
ParticipantIf you have a creative soundcard then maybe it’s got the EAX setting to cave or something similar ?

Some minor glitches 😆
At least you’re able to play longer than 4 minutes before CTD or something
Heck, my company’s developers release more stable products than this ( and I never thought I’d be able to say that ! )XDC Dutchman
ParticipantWell, after spending more than 3 hours on it so far I have to retract my original statement saying it’s a pile of poo
It is indeed a Big Steaming heap of cow dung !
I think the longest I’ve played was about 4 minutes. I either get CTD, problem with your connection, or when trying to joing games I just get ” Error”, or connection to master server lostAny ideas, and I’ve already:
Uninstalled video and sound drivers
Uninstalled BF2142
Uninstalled EA downloader
Installed latest video and sound drivers
Reinstalled EA downloader
Reinstalled BF2142, then patch
Manually update punkbusterXDC Dutchman

ParticipantMaybe the frost free part of the fridge has had it ?
From howstuffworks.com:A frost-free freezer has three basic parts:
A timer
A heating coil
A temperature sensor
Every six hours or so, the timer turns on the heating coil. The heating coil is wrapped among the freezer coils. The heater melts the ice off the coils. When all of the ice is gone, the temperature sensor senses the temperature rising above 32 degrees F (0 degrees C) and turns off the heater.Sounds like yours doesn’t know when to turn on. Time to get out that purchase slip and warranty and see if you can sort something out if it’s not too old
