October 11, 2006 at 1:27 pm #35248sickofitallParticipantJust can’t help it – even if he is trying to start World War 3 I laugh my arse off everyimte I see that bloke. Nobody has any right to look that much like his Team America puppet, “Fuck you Hans Bricks – I’m a very busy ma’!”
October 11, 2006 at 1:56 pm #35249xdczigzagParticipantYou talking about Kim Yong Il or Bush?
October 12, 2006 at 8:20 am #35250XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantLOL @ sPUNKers movie.
Here’s what I thinks of BF2142:
The setting (although a reasonable backstory) ain’t great. Typical grittyish future, with alien-esque guns and armour, with an orangey glow to the sky. Having said that the other maps shown in the demo look like they might be a bit more interesting and varied.
The gameplay seems very much like something ported from a console, and that includes the ‘commander junior’ battlefield view which I didn’t like. The programmers seem to have tried hard the balance the game though and make it an enjoyable experience for everyone, but I find it a bit stilted. Here’s the anaolgy I would use:
When I was a kid going to the play ground and playing on the swings and slides was exciting. 20 foot high slides, see saws that’d take your arm off and that bizarre steel shuttlecock that was basically a massive deathrap designed solely for the purposes of killing children (as far as I can remember anyway).
But these days the slides are about 6 foot high and surrounded by rubber matting, they’ve got stupid minature horses on springs and the shuttlecock of death has been replaced by swings so lame that you can’t seriously hurt yourself when you’re really trying to. In short even the most stupid of children are quite safe.
Same with BF2142. It seems to have been made to suit even the most unskilled player by trying to balance things too much. The guns seem woefully ineffective, requiring lots of hits to get a kill.
I’ll still buy it and play it, but it’s a bit too much like something you’d get on the XBox for my taste.

ahh the witches hat.. Those were the days
Back on track – The weapons get better with the unlocks which may be a problem as I sespect there will be a lot of stat padding to get the better guns – I haven’t plyed for a while anyhoos. can’t be arsed at the moment .
October 12, 2006 at 7:15 pm #35253XDCErratic-SpaceParticipantI’m not sure how you all feel about ribbons, badges, and awards? Personally I like them, gives me some targets to aim for once I’ve played Karki to death. Well BF2142 at least seems to have got this one nailed compared to the issues we had with BF2. The goals needed look a lot more realistic, one or two could have even been made harder still.
October 13, 2006 at 12:25 am #35254DivieParticipantYep looks good however might just be myslightly innebriated state ofmind (3 legged pub crawl wahhaey) but wtf does this mean:
Ergonomically designed with a fibre-reinforced polymer shell, the Voss L-AR (Light Assault Rifle) is a close cousin of the Krylov FA-37, sacrificing incapacitation capabilities for increased portability and firing longevity. Used primarily in supportive, high movement scenarios, the Voss L-AR uses lower calibre ammunition allowing for higher volume cartridges, enabling prolonged suppressive assault.

😯Comfy and made of plastic, related to another gun, not as good at killing but easier to carry and can do longer bursts of fire. Not used as a main combat weapon, for support personnel (engineers, drivers and whatnot) has smaller rounds so you can fit a lot more of them in a magazine, meanining you can shoot for a good long time hehe.
