Boys, I want to play a few games again, the wife is away so I can have some time. However, I am so far out of the loop (not played online since November 2007) that I have no idea what I need etc.
Someone fill me in please?
September 29, 2010 at 1:04 pm #77280xdc magickerParticipantfuck me… it’s alive!!!
September 29, 2010 at 1:59 pm #77281AlzirKeymasterI’m assuming you have all the necessary hardware Pharty, and that wasn’t a question including what you’d need to run BC2?
If you simply want to join in with those of us playing it, then you’re probably best starting off with Teamspeak (see here viewtopic.php?f=25&t=5448), and I’d suggest getting and using Steam as much as possible for the times TS is empty. Steam’s come on a lot in recent years, and even if you don’t use it to buy games, it’s great for keeping track of friends online.
XDC has changed a bit since you were last around as we still don’t have that one game everyone plays all the time, but via Steam friends you’ll normally see someone in a game, and you can message them to find out where they’re playing etc. Those of us who still use TS and keep in touch regularly have a few games we stick to, including BC2 and TF2 mostly, but also Left for dead 2, company of heroes (free online version out soon btw), and a few other minor/flavour of the month offerings, as well as MMORGs like Eve and WOW.
There’s also a good lot of cross over in the games we play and those the rats are playing, so it’s handy to have their TS details and be a member of their steam group as well as ours.
September 29, 2010 at 2:00 pm #77282XDCOldPhartParticipantIndeed, thank you Mag, now
Do I need to buy this game or is it a download?
Is it a mod? If do what game do I need to play it.
Come on girls, I want to kick Max’s arse again and piss everyone else off with my l33t sniper skillsSeptember 29, 2010 at 2:03 pm #77283XDCOldPhartParticipantCheers Alzir, sorry you posted while I was typing. Got me a shiny new Sony Vaio with top specs to replace my Dell XPS so hardware not an issue. I have steam so will get it fired up tonight.
Fingers crossed
September 29, 2010 at 2:10 pm #77284AlzirKeymasterAdd me as a friend if you haven’t got me on your list already, and I’ll see you get an invite to the various groups etc.
Probably best adding me by email address – oliver_closeov@hotmail.com

Its awesome and we now have a dedicated server for MP although it sucks as everything is stuck in God mode and they haven’t fixed it yet…
September 29, 2010 at 11:03 pm #77286SilverSidesParticipantYou have a Minecraft server? Sad bastds 😆
I bought Minecraft last week, whats the server i.p. ? 😳
September 30, 2010 at 12:31 am #77287AlzirKeymasterWhen he says we’ve got a dedicated server Silver, what he’s forgetting to mention is that he’s hosting it on his home connection which is shit. Also the game’s stuck in god mode on multiplayer atm, so no point playing it until the developer fixes it. Ridiculously addictive game though, which could be good for multiplayer a bit down the line.

Yea the multiplayer aspect does suck, as for my connection i am upgrading it (due for switchover on the 11th).
Hopefully they do fix the god mode crap tho, i’ve deactivated the server for the time being until i can get a static ip address sorted…
September 30, 2010 at 9:19 pm #77289SilverSidesParticipantAhh ok, yeah its definetly addictive.
October 28, 2010 at 8:22 am #77290XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantOh dear.
Oh dear oh dear.
I’ve just placed an order for Battlefield Bad Company 2.
What I need advice on (probably from Doc) is how much anger and frustration can a relatively fit 38 year old man take before he either has a heart attack or a stroke, because I think there’s a strong chance that may happen when I play it.
I said I’d buy a copy if Pharty brought one, so technically he’ll be responsible for my family if I die playing it.
October 28, 2010 at 12:51 pm #77291TurksMeisterParticipantNeon-Fucking-Samurai!
Good to see you mate!!!
October 28, 2010 at 7:00 pm #77292xdc the docParticipantDon’t trust him – he has threatened to come back before…. lies!
If you are back though – then lets get a BFBC posse together 🙂
Meet up on steam friends? My ID is xdc_the_doc or XDC doc
October 29, 2010 at 2:52 pm #77293XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantOh ye of little faith!
I might even have a copy of the game when I get home tonight!
I’m slightly worried to see this though:
Whilst I obviously consider anyone who kills me in game some sort of haxxor (like Max), BF2 and 2142 didn’t really suffer too much from aimbots etc, but it looks like BFBC2 might do. Do we get many people trying to use hacks on the server?
