All patches were downloadable. got the 1.6 full patch and 1.6 to 1.61 patch from multiplay.co.uk.
tried it and connected fine 🙂 had some fun games last night.
TBH the graphics are not that bad and at the end of the day it is the gameplay that it excels in.
also i can run it at 1600×1200 with full AA and AF and get very nice fps 🙂

Yeah, will be fun to have the settings maxed.
Just think about this we should all be able to visit the Temple of lag, in Bfv and move about after we all upgraded for Bf2.

Heh i spent the afternoon on varous servers playing BF1942 and have to say its great. still a very fun and enjoyable game to play.
i am gonna have to buy it again if peeps are gonna play again….lost me disc somewhere 🙁

the pace was key……not too fast….not too slow…..i cant get on with modern day BF2 style games……i was dead again by the time i had realised what and who had killed me first time around…..oops it was artillery……2142 ??? leave off…..cant even be arsed to get the demo…..its gonna be a whole lotta spawnin….followed by a whole lot of dyin no doubt.

i still have 42 installed i never took it off lol
reinstalled 42 and tried to play it but could only gety on about 2/200 servers LOL. I had 1.6.9 or whatever it was instaleld … but didn’t realise there was a 1.6b which had to be put on too .. .sortd now though and even better Alcohol 120% has a Window 64 bit update so I can deal without disc swapping again woot!!
I played it again today.
Sorry guys but the game is still a brill game to play. I mean its definately got to be the gameplay that is so good, as i had a blast in it.
I agree with spugs and vic in that BF1942 has just the right pace in it. BF2 and BF2142 are just too quick for me, I would go play counterstrike for that 😛
Now yeah I want me Battlefield 1942 2!
Also if any of you remember the Merciless mod for BF42! that makes the graphics look ace and added blood too i believe. also the cool Battle of the Bulge textures with snow on the vehicles!
planes are flyable again and had geat fun dive bombing in the stuka and scooping ppl up in it 😛
also over 2000 ppl online playing it during the day today! so its still plenty popular
