that is a beast! I’ve got a reasonable rig but that is awesome!
going to post it over at Rat centre to let them know not to play the same servers as you, you’ll be on and finished before everyone loads in, lol.

just wait another month and a new gfx card will be released that will be as fast as 2 from the previous generation for less cost and use less power and therfore less noise. so why bother

The 32 y/o is correct. I’ve never understood why people bother linking up two GFX cards. Sure, you’ll have the fastest rig for about a month, but it seems like a really expensive way to go about it.
Says the guy with a GeForce 6600 AGP card…
May 5, 2006 at 9:09 am #22646XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantNice rig all the same Minti.
Any chance you give me your address and leave the front door open?
May 5, 2006 at 9:25 am #22647xdc magickerParticipantoh and did you get windows to accept that you have 4 gig in it – mine still insists i only have 3 gig in

Ive been saying this for months! NVIDIA and ATI are pissing themselves laughing just now I swear!
4Gig of RAM? WTF? Please dont tell me that is necessary nowadays. Im gonna have to buy a desktop when I get back to blighty so I can kick all yer arses again (except max’s 😳 ) but I aint shelling out for a cray supercomputer ! Although…. would 4gig make my ogame screens load faster??? Then I might think about it 😉
May 5, 2006 at 6:45 pm #22649XDC MintiParticipantFour gig not really needed for Windows XP 32 bit. but as I’ll be running other OS’s on this box as well I got four anyway.
The answer as to why 3GB is only seen check out this url.

This is also likely to be my last upgrade for another 5 years before the mrs will let me spend another £2000 so I thought i’d make the most of it. 😛 😛
Still need to buy a descent TFT 19 or 20″ any sugesstions? not more than £300.00

Agree samsung, and you don’t need to spend all £300 😀

May 6, 2006 at 11:58 am #22653XDC MintiParticipantWhat will I gain by putting another sound card in?
Can you recommend something and why it’all be better than what I’ve got already?
Cheers.

Creative X-Fi m8 😀 The dogs danglies. You free up system resources like cpu cycles and memory usage by buying a separate card that handles the sound processing for you.
Thats a nice rig Minti and I dont want to confuse you even more but isnt a SLI setup like that going to be wasted on a 19″ monitor?? The whole point of SLI imo is to drive large resolution monitors like the Dell 24″ with an acceptable fps. A 19″ monitor with a 1280 x 1024 resolution will be handled without a prob with just one of those 512mb 7900 GTX beasts for all current games and those to come for some time. Unless you are going to get a bigger monitor i’d save the money from one of those cards and put it toward a next generation card whenever that comes out.
